Adams eager to take on Saints
Derek Adams is looking for Ross County to stay ahead of chasing St Mirren when they meet in the Clydesdale Bank Premier League at Victoria Park.
The 10th-placed Highlanders want to bounce back from a 2-1 home defeat to Dundee United at the weekend as their stuttering SPL form continues following a solid start to the season.
The Buddies are on a high following their 3-1 win over Dundee which brought to an end their six-game losing streak in the league and victory for Danny Lennon's side will see them leapfrog their hosts.
County boss Adams acknowledged an unusual SPL table which sees 10 points separating the top 11 sides as he hopes to move further away from Saints and bottom side Dundee.
He said: "It is the nature of the league. It is very tight and we have teams who can move up and down the league quite quickly. We are still sitting in a very good position and we are not far off the top half of the table.
"We have a different idea here. We are just up from the First Division and our main focus is to stay in the Premier League and we will try to do that. We have had an excellent start to the season but we will take it one game at a time, we have always been able to do that. St Mirren coming up here is a good game for us, they have come off a positive result against Dundee and so we are looking forward to it."
Danny Lennon has asked St Mirren fans for backing not boos ahead of the game.
The Paisley club ended their six-game losing run with a 3-1 home win over bottom side Dundee on Saturday to move four points clear of the Taysiders, but not before Buddies veteran assistant Tommy Craig had an altercation with angry supporters apparently unimpressed by the way their side were playing.
The spat ended amicably with Craig inviting two fans for lunch to show them on a club video the philosophy he and Lennon are trying to instil.
The Buddies boss acknowledged the fans' right to voice their opinions, but hopes they recognise that his players are giving their all, regardless of results.
"You hear it every now and again and Tommy handled it well," said Lennon.
"They are the paying public, the fans pay to watch the team, but we share the same frustrations and I understand their frustrations.
"We will learn as much from them as they do from us, but the one thing we don't want to hear is boos.
"The players need every one of us behind them.
"They are giving their very best for the team when they go out there."
