Match Preview

Vigurs- point would be a great result for Ross County Ross County midfielder Iain Vigurs has dismissed any suggestion that their Scottish Cup triumph over Celtic will have any bearing on the first league meeting between the teams. Much has changed at Celtic Park since their shock semi-final defeat by County at Hampden in 2010, during Neil Lennon's first few weeks as manager, then on a temporary basis. Lennon has strengthened the Celtic squad and instilled a winning mentality, while his side beat County at Dingwall in the League Cup in September last year. But Derek Adams' side have also improved - they have not tasted defeat in the league for 12 months - and enter Saturday's next meeting as Clydesdale Bank Premier League rivals of Celtic. Vigurs said: "2010 will always be a great memory but this is the league, this is a completely different Celtic team and Ross County team, so I don't think it will have any bearing on what happens on Saturday. "People forget things very quickly. As players you can't dwell on games you have won or played well in, or even games you have played badly, because you need to concentrate on the game ahead of you." Celtic are expected to win the league by some distance this season but 24-year-old Vigurs does not believe they will be streets ahead on any given Saturday. "Even to pick up a point would be a great bonus for us and a great lift," the former Inverness player said. Neil Lennon empathised with Ian Black after the Rangers midfielder was booed by a section of the Scotland support during Wednesday's friendly versus Australia at Easter Road. The former Hearts midfielder's call-up was controversial given that national team manager Craig Levein omitted Ibrox team-mate Lee Wallace due to him playing his football in the Irn-Bru Third Division this season. However, the abuse received by Black on making his debut as a late substitute made the headlines and was condemned by, among others, the Association of Tartan Army Clubs. Parkhead boss Lennon, a Roman Catholic, was booed while playing for Northern Ireland at Windsor Park by some of the predominantly Protestant home support, and he also received death threats which led to him calling time on his international career. Ahead of Saturday's clash with Ross County at Dingwall, the former Celtic skipper was asked about the treatment of Black. He said: "It was uncalled for. The kid was making his debut. "Part of it is probably banter with the Hibs fans but still, it was a very big day for him and a special moment for him. "I don't want to make too much of it, I was booed myself but for different reasons obviously, but it is not nice and hopefully that will be the first and last of it. "I think he is a strong character and listening to his comments after the game he was still very positive. "With the venue being where it was, there was maybe always a chance that he might take a bit of stick anyway. "I think if the venue was either Hampden or (elsewhere in) Glasgow, I don't think that scenario would have popped up." Lennon joked in self-deprecating style about the treatment he received as he continued to rationalise the abuse of Black. He said: "I got booed everywhere - I got booed in the house. "We all know the reasons behind that, because he (Black) was a Hearts player for so long and he was a bit of a rascal as it were - and there is nothing wrong with that - and he rubbed people up the wrong way. "The majority of those fans at the game wouldn't have been Glasgow Rangers fans, Celtic fans or Inverness fans, the majority of them were probably at Easter Road to give him a bit of stick." Lennon has 10 players either out or doubtful for the trip to Dingwall in Dylan McGeouch (broken jaw), Daryl Murphy (hamstring), Gary Hooper (hamstring), Anthony Stokes (ankle), Mo Bangura (thigh), Rabiu Ibrahim (groin), Paddy McCourt (groin), Scott Brown (hip), James Forrest (groin) and Filip Twardzik (ankle).
