Under-fire Macclesfield boss Ian Brightwell was denied three vital points by a heartbreaking injury time equaliser from battling Rochdale.
This is the ninth time this season that Macclesfield have drawn from a winning position and it leaves a huge question mark over the ex-Manchester City star's future.
Rochdale go into the New Year with their confidence sky high, having only lost two games away from home throughout 2007.
Macclesfield took the lead in the 19th minute when youngster Gareth Evans flicked on a Kevin McIntyre cross for Levi Reid to poke home at the far post.
Evans nearly added another on 23 minutes but his first time volley was blocked on the six yard line before Martin Gritton scooped the rebound wide.
However Macclesfield were two up on the half hour when Gritton laid a perfect pass into the path of Evans who stroked home from ten yards.
Rochdale were desperately unlucky not to get back into the game on 53 minutes when a powerful Rory McArdle header was deflected onto the crossbar by the diving Adam Murray.
However they were much luckier on 63 minutes when Luke Dimech deflected an Adam Rundle shot past his own keeper.
Rochdale then had a succession of chances to equalise with Adam Le Fondre forcing a superb save from Jonathan Brain before he fired wide with the goal begging on 86 minutes.Joe Thompson then slotted a chance wide before giant striker Glenn Murray popped up at the far post deep in injury time to head home the equaliser.
