Match Preview

What a load of Twaddle for Dale Rochdale midfielder Marc Twaddle is doubtful for the home clash with Leyton Orient. Twaddle was left out of the squad for the midweek draw with Chesterfield due to a hamstring strain and is struggling to shake off the injury. Manager Steve Eyre has no other new injury or suspension problems but must decide whether to recall goalkeeper Jake Kean, on loan from Blackburn, who made way for David Lucas on Tuesday night. Midfielder Brian Barry-Murphy is hoping to retain his place after making a rare start against Chesterfield at the expense of Nicky Adams. Winger Simon Hackney is working his way back to full fitness after suffering a setback in his recovery from a long-term abdominal injury last week and remains unavailable. Dale have won only one of their last seven league matches. Charlie Daniels, Ben Chorley and Tom Clarke will be missing for Leyton Orient. Left-back Daniels is in the middle of a three-match ban, centre-half Chorley remains sidelined with a thigh problem and on-loan Huddersfield midfielder Clarke has an ankle injury. Marc Laird replaced Clarke in the centre in the 2-2 draw with Yeovil on Tuesday night, but Jimmy Smith came off the bench after recovering from a thigh injury and could start his first game in a month at Spotland. Lee Butcher continues in goal with Ben Alnwick (groin), Jamie Jones and David Button (both shoulder) all still in the treatment room. French striker Jonathan Tehoue is also a long-term absentee as he recovers from a broken wrist.

Match Report

Seven heaven for Orient Leyton Orient stretched their unbeaten run to seven games with a 2-0 win at Rochdale. The hosts bossed long periods of the game but lacked a cutting edge up front and were on the back foot early on when Jimmy Smith capitalised on some poor defending. David Mooney's strike wrapped up the result midway through the second half. Smith headed home Dean Cox's corner after just 12 minutes, rising above goalkeeper Jake Kean and the Rochdale defence to meet the cross from six yards. Andrew Tutte had the ball in the net for Rochdale early in the second half only for his effort to be chalked off by referee James Adcock for a foul in the build-up by Jason Kennedy. The visitors doubled their advantage in the 65th minute when Jamie Cureton's pull-back from the byline found Mooney in space and he side-footed past Kean.
