Match Preview

Fit-again Adams set for bench Nicky Adams is back in contention for Rochdale when they welcome league leaders Charlton, but manager Steve Eyre warned the midfielder he will struggle to regain his starting berth. Adams was suspended for the 1-0 win over Scunthorpe in midweek and it was a goal from his replacement Jason Kennedy which handed Dale the three points, and their second win on the spin. Speaking to the club's official website, Eyre said: "If you hand over your shirt by getting sent off then there are players in the squad just waiting for an opportunity. It is the name of the game." Initial fears over Jean Louis Akpa Akpro, who limped out of Tuesday's win over the Iron, appear to have been allayed and he will be available for selection. Joe Thompson has returned to training following a thigh problem but Simon Hackney (abdominal) faces a further three weeks on the sidelines. Charlton manager Chris Powell is set to make 11 changes. Powell changed his entire starting line-up as the Addicks slipped to their first defeat of the season against Preston in the Carling Cup on Tuesday night. Goalkeeper Ben Hamer will return along with defenders Rhoys Wiggins, Matt Taylor, Michael Morrison and Chris Solly. In midfield Scott Wagstaff, Dale Stephens, Danny Hollands and captain Johnnie Jackson should come back in while Bradley Wright-Phillips and Paul Hayes start up front. Powell this week signed free agent striker Yann Kermorgant but he will not be considered yet, while defender Yado Mambo, who played the second half against Preston, has joined Ebbsfleet on loan. Spanish midfielder Mikel Alonso is still recovering from an ankle injury.

Match Report

Addicks down Dale High-flying Charlton maintain their winning run in League One as a late Danny Hollands header sank Rochdale 3-2. Trailing 2-0 at half time, the hosts hit back after the interval to level through Ashley Grimes and David Ball. But Hollands' brace, either side of a Rhoys Wiggins effort, clinched the three points for Chris Powell's team. Charlton goalkeeper Ben Hamer pulled off a fine save at full stretch to deny Pim Balkestein early on, but they opened the scoring against the run of play after 20 minutes when Johnnie Jackson crossed for Hollands to head home. The Addicks doubled their advantage when Paul Hayes cut into the Rochdale area and his low delivery was cut out by Jason Kennedy, the ball running kindly for Wiggins to pick his spot. Rochdale were back in it when Jean-Louis Akpa Akpro's cross was headed home by Grimes, and they levelled on the hour mark when Gary Jones' cross was chested down by Grimes and Ball slammed home from close range. The winner arrived in the 80th minute when Jackson's inswinging corner was headed home by Hollands at the back post.
