Match Preview
Del Neri wants repeat of Juve league form Juventus coach Luigi Del Neri expects his team to take their recent league form into Europe when they visit Salzburg in a clash between two teams looking to record their first win in Group A. Juve have not lost in six European games this season but draws against Lech Poznan and Manchester City have left them third in the standings. Lech and Man City lead the pool, two points clear of the Italians, while Salzburg lie bottom after two consecutive defeats. Juve head into the encounter in Austria on the back of a 4-0 triumph over Lecce. Last weekend's result lifted the Turin giants to fifth in the standings and extended their unbeaten run to three matches. "I've seen a general improvement," said Del Neri, who joined Juve this summer. "My players are giving their best and the atmosphere is serene. "There's the will by everyone to do well." Juve defender Marco Motta hopes his side take that form onto the European stage. "We got a fantastic win against Lecce," he said. "We must give continuity to this result starting from Thursday's match. "We need a determined Juve in order to obtain the three points in Europe that we have yet to conquer." Juve will have an inspired Alessandro Del Piero. The Bianconero captain scored at the weekend to match the record of 178 goals for the club set by legend Giampiero Boniperti. Del Piero is the least of Salzburg coach Huub Stevens' concerns. The Austrians go into the encounter at the Red Bull Arena hoping to spark their season into life. Sunday's 2-0 home defeat to Kapfenberger dropped Salzburg to seventh in a 10-team league. The Austrians have also struggled in Europe and have not scored in their group matches so far. "Juve are more than just Del Piero," said Stevens. "They are a team with plenty of potential and class. "I think and hope that we can also show our strength on Thursday. The atmosphere in the team is good, even though everyone is disappointed. "We are trying to keep enjoyment levels high in training, but we need wins to do that as it is the only way out of the crisis."

Match Report
Juve held in Austria Juventus were held to a 1-1 draw by Europa League Group A basement team Salzburg at the Bullen-Arena. The Austrians were the better team in the first half and took the lead before half-time through Dusan Svento. Juventus drew level in the 48th minute when substitute Milos Krasic made a swift impact two minutes after coming off the bench. The result will be of little comfort for Juventus coach Luigi Del Neri, whose side are winless after recording their third consecutive draw in the competition. The Italians stand third in the group, four points behind leaders Manchester City and one point adrift of Lech Poznan. Salzburg lie at the foot of the pool with one point from three games. The first chance came after eight minutes as Gonzalo Zarate's strike from outside the area went wide of Juventus goalkeeper Alexander Manninger's far post. In the 25th minute, Alessandro Del Piero warmed the palms of Gerhard Tremmel with a stinging drive from 30 yards which the goalkeeper saved. At the other end, Manninger was forced to fully stretch to clear David Mendes Da Silva's effort from long range. It was Salzburg who would find the net first, though, as Mendes Da Silva fed Svento and he coolly fired home from 12 yards, leaving Manninger with no chance to save. Del Neri decided to make a change early in the second half with Krasic replacing Zdenek Grygera. It proved a wise move with Krasic scoring the equaliser soon after. Krasic got behind Paolo De Ceglie's cross from the left and fired from six yards past Tremmel. The home side immediately went in search of a winner and Roman Wallner brought a good save out of Manninger just minutes after the hour mark. Shortly after, Christoph Leitgeb's volley went just wide of the far post. With 20 minutes remaining, Del Piero fired high and wide from 25 yards as Juventus struggled to put a good move together. The hosts could have clinched victory deep in stoppage time but Manninger made a crucial save from substitute Jakob Jantscher's right-footed shot from the heart of the penalty area.
