Match Preview
Skipper back for Rangers Adel Taarabt returns for QPR when the leaders host Neil Warnock's former club Sheffield United. The Rangers skipper and Championship player of the year missed his first game of the season at Doncaster before the international break after a family bereavement. Taarabt, who has hit 15 goals this term, has since played for Morocco and is ready to reclaim his place in midfield. Hogan Ephraim could be the man to drop out despite hitting the winner against Rovers. Warnock, who managed the Blades for eight years until 2007, is still without defender Peter Ramage (cruciate) and striker Jamie Mackie (broken leg). But Ishmael Miller and Matt Connolly are pushing to return the squad along with former skipper Martin Rowlands, who is back from his loan spell at Millwall. Sheffield United pair Darius Henderson and Neill Collins will give manager Micky Adams a boost by returning to the squad. Striker Henderson was sidelined for the 2-0 win over Leeds last time out due to a one-game ban, while defender Collins missed out against his former club with a knock. Adams could also include Stephen Jordan in his squad following the defender's return from his loan spell at Huddersfield, but midfielder Lee Williamson's stop-start season continues as he serves the second game of a four-match suspension. Defender Johnny Ertl is expected to miss out again due to a knee injury and Wolves striker Sam Vokes briefly returned to his parent club this week before starting a loan spell at Norwich. Midfielder Bjorn Helge Riise is pushing for a return to the starting line-up after stepping off the substitutes' bench against Leeds, but long-term absentees Chris Morgan, Ryan France and Andy Taylor remain sidelined.

Match Report
QPR nine-points clear at top QPR boss Neil Warnock took another huge step towards promotion back to the Barclays Premier League - and shoved his old club Sheffield United closer to the drop as his side claimed a 3-0 victory. Two Wayne Routledge goals either side of Alejandro Faurlin's strike secured another victory for Warnock's runaway leaders who are now nine points clear at the top of the npower Championship and, crucially, 13 ahead of Cardiff in third. If results elsewhere go their way Rangers could even be celebrating promotion at Barnsley in eight days, with five games to spare, such has been their dominance this term. By contrast, Sheffield United are staring at life in League One just four years after relegation from the top flight under Warnock. Micky Adams is their fourth manager of the season - the sort of turnover common at Rangers not so long ago - but they have won just twice since he took charge 17 games ago and are seven points adrift of safety. Rangers did not have it all their own way - Daniel Bogdanovic had a shot cleared off the line and Stephen Quinn wasted another good chance - but the Loftus Road faithful are already looking forward to rubbing shoulders with west London neighbours Chelsea for the first time in 15 years next season. They could have taken an early lead when Adel Taarabt, back in the side having missed their last match after hearing the news his cousin had been shot dead, crossed for left-back Clint Hill, who would have scored had he got more than the faintest of touches at the near post. The hosts looked capable of scoring every time they went forward, though, and they made the breakthrough just before the half-hour. Faurlin's chip found Heidar Helguson and his cross from the byline was swept in first time by Routledge from eight yards out. Rangers were inches away from a second when the unlikely figure of right-back Bradley Orr strode forward and curled narrowly wide. But United had their chances to hit back before the break, only for Shaun Derry to hack Bogdanovic's effort off the goal-line and Quinn to scuff a close-range shot wide. However, they were down and out six minutes into the second half when Taarabt's corner was cleared by Matthew Lowton to Faurlin, who smashed it straight back into the net from the edge of the box. Routledge added a third in the 66th minute, rounding off a neat move between Tommy Smith and Helguson to fire across Steve Simonsen. It could have been worse for the visitors with Patrick Agyemang blazing over and Simonsen saving from Smith, but the Rangers bandwagon shows no sign of slowing down while the Blades are surely going down.
