Match Preview

McGinn misses out for Spiders Queen`s Park head coach Gardner Spiers will be without defender Paul McGinn when they face Arbroath for the second time in four weeks. But Spiers is confident midfielders Jack Henry and Martin McBride along with winger David Murray will pass fitness tests to be included. The Spiders are out for revenge for the 1-0 defeat they suffered in the game at Gayfield that was brought forward from its originally scheduled date of Boxing Day. Spiers said: "We are out for the win, although it will be difficult against an Arbroath side that will be out to make amends for their defeat at Stranraer. "We were unlucky to get beaten at Annan last Saturday and I do not want to be talking about hard luck stories anymore, just wins." Arbroath player-manager Paul Sheerin will include himself in his side's starting line-up. Sheerin, who made a five-minute substitute appearance in the 4-1 loss at Stranraer last Saturday, will start with Jay Shields missing through suspension and five players out injured. Defenders Stuart Malcolm and Mark Durnan will be missing along with midfield pair Keith Gibson and Jordyn Sheerin and striker Robbie Ross. Sheerin is looking for an improvement from his side after a disappointing run of form, particularly away from home. He said: "We have not hit the heights yet but we are a new squad and this first quarter is all about learning. Of course we would have preferred to have more points on board by now but there is plenty of time to turn things around. "The pitch at Hampden may just suit us."

Match Report

Revenge is sweet for Queens Queens Park avenged last month's defeat at Arbroath with a 5-2 victory in a thrilling game at Hampden Park. Striker Gavin Swankie gave the visitors a sixth-minute lead, but the advantage lasted less than four minutes as James Brough rose high above the Smokies' defence to convert an Ian Watt corner. Watt went from provider to scorer moments before the break, heading a Richard Little cross to give the home side the lead for the first time. The scores were back level shortly after the break, with Steve Doris converting a 47th minute spot-kick after being upended by Paul Gallagher, but Brough struck again on 66 minutes to regain the lead for the Spiders. Craig Smith drilled home a fourth on 70 minutes, and Michael Daly completed the scoring in injury time to secure all three points for the Spiders.
