Match Preview

Watt makes welcome return Queen`s Park welcome back striker Ian Watt after illness as third-placed Annan come calling at Hampden Park. Yet Jamie Brough, Steven Baillie, Paul Harkins and Michael O'Hara continue to be ruled out with injury and have been joined on the sidelines by Tony Quinn. Striker Jamie Longworth is a doubt through illness and Craig Smith falls into that category through a thigh knock with head coach Gardner Speirs out to make up for a disappointing performance at Berwick last Saturday. Speirs said: "We simply did not perform last week and we will be out to make amends for that. I am looking for us to repeat the success we have had over Annan recently and go on another good run of results." In-form Annan are without the injured pair of Neil MacFarlane and Graeme Bell. Harry Cairney`s men are looking to create a club record of five successive wins by triumphing at the National Stadium for the first time. A win for the Galabankies would also create an eight-point gap over the Spiders in the race for a play-off place. And Cairney is determined that his men make up for a dismal performance at Hampden last month. He said: "This is a really big game and one where we must perform considerably better than we did last time when we gave away shocking goals in a 3-0 defeat. "Our recent run has given us confidence so there is no reason we cannot win this time."

Match Report

Sloan goal enough for Annan Annan boosted their automatic promotion hopes with a 1-0 win against Queens Park. Steven Sloan scored the only goal of the game for the visitors, drilling the ball home from 12 yards after 16 minutes to maintain their winning run. Despite slightly edging the game, the home side could not get back into it. Martin McBride and Gavin Lauchlan both missed good opportunities for the Spiders. Lauchlan's beautifully-placed shot whistled past the post in the 76th minute before Richard Little's audacious 30-yard drive was well-held by Craig Summersgill to keep the score at 1-0.
