Match Report

Beleaguered Charlton Athletic twice came back from a goal behind to draw 2-2 at home with QPR.

However, a point was not enough for the relegation threatened side, who have now gone 15 Championship matches without a win to equal their worst run for 30 years.

Lacking in confidence Charlton fell behind as early as the 17th minute when Lee Cook, who was on loan at The Valley last season, fired home a free-kick from just outside the penalty area.

QPR dominated a first half in which the home side failed to get a shot on target and they could have found themselves further behind had goalkeeper Rob Elliott not made a fine save from Matteo Alberti.

Charlton however got off to the perfect start for the second half equalising three minutes after the break when Nicky Bailey headed home from Lloyd Sam's cross.

The home side began to play with more confidence, but fell behind again when a bad defensive error allowed Dexter Blackstock to put the visitors back in front with a low shot into the bottom of the net.

But Bailey scored his second goal when Rangers goalkeeper Radek Cerny could only punch out a Martin Cranie cross and the Charlton midfielder headed the ball into the net.

Charlton, were hanging on at the end as substitute Heidar Helguson hit the post for Rangers and Charlton's caretaker manager Phil Parkinson was sent to the stands in injury time by referee Paul Tyler for his protests at the failure of the official to give his side a penalty for what looked like a handball.

The Addicks battled well after the break, but they will need reinforcements if they are to get themselves out of trouble.
