Match Preview

Same again for North End Graham Westley has no fresh injury concerns among his new-look squad as Preston prepare to welcome Colchester to Deepdale. Westley named 10 outfield debutants for the 2-0 Capital One Cup triumph over Huddersfield and an unchanged side is a possibility after Lee Holmes shook off the knock that forced him from the field at half-time on Monday night. Joel Byrom could come into contention in midfield after a hamstring injury prevented him from playing any part against the Terriers. Byrom's former Stevenage team-mate and new Preston captain John Mousinho insists North End will be on their guard against the U's owing to the unpredictability that comes with the opening day of the league season. "We'll definitely take them as we do every team - we don't overestimate teams but we don't underestimate teams," he told Press Association Sport. "We'll do our homework and do our scouting on them and we'll expect the unexpected as well because I think that will be the nature of the first few games when you're not really sure what's going to come at you." Colchester manager John Ward will hope to welcome back Freddie Sears for the trip. The striker missed Tuesday night's woeful 3-0 Capital One Cup defeat at Yeovil due to personal reasons and it remains to be seen whether he returns for the clash at Deepdale. Ward will certainly be looking to make changes for the league opener after such a poor display in midweek, with Colchester's defending coming in for criticism from the U's boss. Left-back Ben Coker will again be assessed having missed out against the Glovers with a dead leg sustained in pre-season last weekend. Colchester will be looking for a repeat of last season's opening game having come away from North End on the back of a 4-2 triumph.
