Match Preview

Adams hampered by Vale injuries Ben Williamson will be absent from the Port Vale squad that takes on Swindon. Williamson suffered a knee injury while playing for the reserves on Monday. Subsequent scans have ruled out any serious damage, although the striker must wear a protective brace for the next two weeks while the swelling subsides. He joins Ryan Burge (knee), Lewis Haldane (broken leg), Lee Collins (groin) and Andrew Little (knee) on the sidelines. Collins is back in training after undergoing groin surgery last month, but the defender is lacking match sharpness. Swindon`s visit to Vale Park will be Micky Adams` 100th game in charge of the club. He said: "It will be a nice milestone to reach, but I hope I can make it 200 or even 300 in the future." Swindon will be without midfielder Ahmed Abdulla for the League Two clash. The on-loan West Ham man took a knock to the leg in training during the week and has been ruled out for a matter of days by the club's medical department. Goalkeeper Phil Smith recovered sufficiently from a groin injury to take his place on the substitutes' bench for the 0-0 draw with Bradford last weekend, but is unlikely to displace loanee Wes Foderingham in the starting line-up. Foderingham has kept four clean sheets in as many matches since arriving from Crystal Palace. Abdul Said is a long-term casualty with a leg injury, while striker Cristian Montano is unlikely to start at Vale Park after losing his place to Algerian Mehdi Kerrouche last week.

Match Report

Robins soar through Magera and Kerrouche Lukas Magera's first goal in npower League Two and a second-half penalty by substitute Mehdi Kerrouche earned Swindon a comfortable 2-0 win over an off-colour Port Vale outfit. Swindon's Spanish winger Lander Gabilondo and Vale midfielder Doug Loft went close in an even start to a feisty contest between two teams with promotion ambitions. And it was Gabilondo who set up the opening goal in the 25th minute when he cut in from the left to roll an inviting pass into the path of Magera. The big striker cracked a low 20-yard shot inside Stuart Tomlinson's right-hand post for his first Swindon goal, but there were serious question marks over Vale's defending. Vale boss Micky Adams, in charge for his 100th game at the club, made two changes at half-time, but it was Kerrouche who made a swift impact when he fired home a 47th-minute penalty. Adam Yates was penalised for climbing on the back of Magera and Kerrouche made no mistake with an unstoppable shot high inside Tomlinson's left-hand post. Vale huffed and puffed in an attempt to find a way back, but Swindon's fifth consecutive clean sheet was rarely under threat. The nearest they came to a consolation goal was a fiercely struck free-kick by Gary Roberts which Wesley Foderingham clutched at the second attempt in the 67th minute and Vale duly slipped to their fourth home defeat of the season.
