Match Preview
Vale likely to remain unchanged Port Vale caretaker boss Mark Grew is set to name an unchanged side for the clash with Lincoln at Vale Park. Grew has sought to make a number of changes for his first two games in temporary charge but after the team showed a marked improvement in Saturday's 0-0 draw with Bury, when only a failure to take a host of chances prevented Vale taking the win, he is likely to stick with the same players. This would mean on-loan Rotherham striker Tom Pope partnering Marc Richards up front with Justin Richards having to settle for a place on the bench. Top-scorer Marc Richards is still searching for his 100th career goal after missing a number of presentable opportunities against the Shakers. Attacker Lewis Haldane and combative midfielder Sam Morsy are expected to retain their places after being recalled at the weekend and putting in impressive performances. Sean Rigg remains unavailable as he completes his three-match ban for the sending off he received against Accrington, while on-loan Peterborough defender Exodus Geohaghon is not expected to play any part following his claims, and the subsequent investigation, that he was racially abused by Valients fans at the Crown Ground. Lincoln boss Steve Tilson will hope to have Ashley Grimes back for the match. An ankle injury ruled out the Imps leading goalscorer as Rotherham thrashed Tilson`s team 6-0 on Friday evening to inflict Lincoln`s heaviest home loss for 20 years. Should Grimes be fit to return, either Ben Hutchinson or Scott Spencer will drop down to the bench. But Patrick Kanyuka is suspended after being sent off against the Millers for two bookable offences. The defender will serve a one-match ban so Danny Hone could come back into the team as his replacement. Josh O`Keefe, Paul Green, Jamie Clapham and Cian Hughton will hope to be involved but Clark Keltie (thigh) is likely to remain sidelined, despite resuming training.

Match Report
Loft lifts Vale into play-off places Doug Loft struck a 70th-minute stunner to earn Port Vale a 2-1 win against Lincoln and move them back into the play-off places. The visitors, trounced 6-0 at home by Rotherham on Friday night, got off to a great start when Gavin McCallum fired them into a third-minute lead. Julian Kelly whipped over a cross from the right and the ball broke for McCallum to crack an unstoppable shot beyond Stuart Tomlinson from 14 yards. Kelly was causing Vale all sorts of problems with his overlapping runs and it took a terrific save from Tomlinson to stop the full-back from adding a second in the 16th minute. Danny Hone also squandered a gilt-edged chance for the rampant visitors before shell-shocked Vale retaliated as Marc Richards, twice, and Tom Pope had efforts blocked on the line. Vale had to improve in the second half and they did as Richards headed against a post before he equalised with his 100th career goal in the 59th minute. A period of sustained pressure led to substitute Kris Taylor's cross from the left and a fine header by Richards, who rose highest to net from eight yards. Loft's winner was a cracker as he turned the ball onto his left foot 25 yards out and bent a fabulous shot high inside Elliott Parish's left-hand post.
