Match Preview
Trio set for bows New loan signings Jay O`Shea, Romaine Sawyers and Kayleden Brown are in line to make their debuts for Port Vale when they play host to Cheltenham. Manager Jim Gannon, who will preside over his first home game in charge of the Burslem outfit, snapped up Birmingham forward O`Shea on a month`s loan on Thursday to counter the loss of a handful of key performers. He has also signed Romaine Sawyers and Kayleden Brown, both attacking players, on 28-day loans from West Brom. Striker Marc Richards (thigh), forwards Louis Dodds (calf) and Sean Rigg (thigh) and midfielder Doug Loft (calf) all missed last weekend`s 2-1 defeat at Crewe and are set to watch from the sidelines again. They will be joined by the suspended Gary Roberts who misses the next two games having collected his 10th booking of the season, while fellow midfielder Sam Morsy also left Gresty Road struggling with a knock and will be assessed. Tommy Fraser parted ways with the Valiants this week after his contract was terminated by mutual consent, subsequently penning a deal with Barnet. Cheltenham manager Mark Yates is weighing up whether to make changes for the trip. Yates was left frustrated by several aspects of his side`s 2-1 home defeat to Accrington last weekend and has the option to turn to the likes of David Bird, Josh Low, Frankie Artus, Sean Jeffers and Phil Walsh to mix things up. He said: "I can`t knock the players for their work-rate but there were a number of bad decisions and perhaps it`s time to shake it up a little because I do have options on the bench. If I think I need to freshen things up then I will do that." Defender Martin Riley (hamstring) remains unavailable but could return to feature in training next week, while fellow centre-back Andy Gallinagh continues to manage his groin injury and is taking part in a couple of sessions per week with a view to being part of the squad.

Match Report
Ten-man Vale beaten again Port Vale fans vented their fury at the club's board of directors after Jim Gannon's first home game in charge ended in a 1-0 defeat against Cheltenham. Jeff Goulding scored the only goal of the game to consign promotion-chasing Vale to a sixth defeat in seven games and leave supporters calling for new boss Gannon to be given funds in the transfer market. The contest swung in the visitors' favour when Vale skipper Gareth Owen was sent off for a professional foul on Wes Thomas six minutes before the interval. Owen was isolated in a one-on-one when he took a tug on the speedy striker's shirt to leave referee Paul Tierney with no option other than produce the red card. There was little sign of a breakthrough in the early stages of the second half, but Cheltenham made the extra man pay when the unmarked Goulding netted his ninth goal of the season. Former Vale full-back Keith Lowe delivered an excellent cross from the right and Goulding made no mistake as he buried a six-yard header low to Stuart Tomlinson's left. Vale's best chance of equalising fell to substitute Kayleden Brown when he headed over a left-wing corner from Jay O'Shea.
