Duo keep Vale waiting
Port Vale will check on Marc Richards and Clayton McDonald ahead of the home game against Burton.
Club captain Richards pulled out of the squad to face Accrington on Saturday morning after he was struck down by illness and the striker will continue to be assessed. Tom Pope will keep his place in the team should Richards not make it.
Richards' withdrawal left Vale, who are on the brink of administration for the second time in just over eight years, with only four substitutes.
Manager Micky Adams revealed after the 2-2 draw at Accrington that the club could not afford midfielder Kingsley James' travelling expenses from his family home in Sheffield to link up with the squad.
McDonald failed to reappear for the second half against Stanley because of a hamstring problem and a late decision will be made on the defender's fitness.
Under-pressure Burton boss Paul Peschisolido may have a stronger squad to choose from.
Peschisolido, who met with chairman Ben Robinson on Monday to discuss his future after a 2-0 home defeat to Southend at the weekend extended Albion's winless run to 11 matches, had to name youth-team striker Evan Garnett on the bench against the Shrimpers because of the club's injury problems.
Joint-leading scorer Billy Kee was ruled out for the remainder of the season last week as he awaits a groin operation.
Fellow forward Calvin Zola (calf), skipper John McGrath (ankle) and midfielder Jacques Maghoma (hamstring) were also absent on Saturday.
However, Peschisolido is hopeful the trio will return to contention for the game at Vale Park.
Vale leave financial woes behind to win
A late double by Louis Dodds eased Vale's pain on the day they entered administration as Micky Adams' side beat Burton Albion 3-0 to extend the visitors' winless run to 12 matches.
Vale dominated most of a tight first-half first-half with Marc Richards wasting an 18th minute chance when he headed Paul Marshall's corner over the bar from six yards.
But both players were heavily involved again two minutes before the interval when Richards atoned to give Vale the lead with his 12th goal of the season.
Burton goalkeeper Ross Atkins made a tremendous save after Sean Rigg met Marshall's free-kick with a firm header, but Richards was on hand to tuck away the rebound.
Albion had offered nothing as an attacking force in the first period and Vale should have doubled their lead five minutes after the break when Dodds shot wide of a gaping net.
But former Vale striker Justin Richards forced the first save of the night from Stuart Tomlinson shortly afterwards as Burton finally began to venture forward.
Vale rode out a short spell of pressure and Dodds wrapped up a deserved victory when he struck in the 86th and 88th minutes.
He got the faintest of headed touches from Marshall's excellent free-kick delivery for his first, then prodded in a close range finish from Tom Pope's perfect downward header.
