Duo in line for Vale return
Gareth Owen and Marc Richards are pushing for places in the Port Vale starting line-up against Aldershot.
Defender Owen resumed full training on Monday after missing the last five matches with Achilles and hernia problems.
Striker Richards came through the final 15 minutes of the victory at Dagenham last weekend unscathed on his return from a troublesome ankle injury.
On-loan defender Shane O`Connor and striker Ben Williamson are in contention to make the squad after playing the full 90 minutes in a reserve-team game on Tuesday.
On-loan defender Liam Chilvers will play for the final time before returning to Notts County.
Midfielders Lewis Haldane (broken leg) and Ryan Burge (knee) and on-loan striker Andrew Little (knee) continue their rehabilitation from long-term injuries.
Aldershot will be without top scorer Danny Hylton.
The striker collected his fifth booking of the season in last weekend`s impressive 1-0 victory over Shrewsbury meaning he now serves an automatic one-match suspension.
Hylton, who has been linked with a move to a host of bigger clubs, has found the net 12 times for the Shots in all competitions this term although none of those have come in his last eight outings.
His absence will come as a blow to manager Dean Holdsworth who would have wanted to make as few changes as possible having hailed the performance of his players last Saturday as they collected the club`s first league win since the start of November.
Holdsworth made just the one change against Shrews as Scott Davies came in for Michael Rankine, who is likely to find himself reinstated into the starting XI against Vale to replace Hylton.
Madjo treble helps Vale sink Shots
Guy Madjo's three-goal salvo fired troubled Port Vale towards a welcome 4-0 victory over Aldershot, who suffered their fourth defeat in five league games.
Vale had failed to win any of their previous four home games, but the on-loan Madjo ended that sorry run with some clinical finishing.
A large proportion of Vale fans held up red cards before kick-off as they stepped up efforts to oust chairman Peter Miller and chief executive Perry Deakin, but there were no problems on the pitch with Vale launching a series of attacks before Madjo gave them an eighth-minute lead.
Madjo collected a cross from strike partner Tom Pope and held off the challenge of two defenders before burying a low shot inside Jamie Young's right-hand post from 12 yards.
Aldershot survived a couple of further scares, but started to play their way into the game as Adam Smith and Luke Guttridge came close to capitalising on some ropey Vale defending.
But Madjo settled fraying nerves when he tapped in Vale's second goal after Young could only parry a shot from Jennison Myrie-Williams in the 48th minute.
And the striker ended the game as a contest on the hour with a left-footed finish from 14 yards after he latched onto a through ball from Pope.
The unselfish Pope also played in substitute Sean Rigg to net Vale's 83rd-minute fourth before Aldershot's miserable day was completed when Michael Rankine missed an 85th-minute penalty.
