Roberts back for Vale
Port Vale welcome back midfielder Gary Roberts for their home clash against Accrington.
Roberts missed last weekend's impressive 3-0 victory at Macclesfield due to a one-match suspension and comes back into the fold, although whether manager Micky Adams opts to change a winning formula remains to be seen.
Captain Tommy Fraser switched from the right-hand side of midfield into the middle to fill Roberts' void, while Louis Dodds was brought in out wide.
Doug Loft returned to the bench at Moss Rose after recovering from cracked ribs and a collapsed lung and he will be hoping for some game time, along with on-loan winger Jemal Johnson.
Long-term absentee Lewis Haldane is back in full-training and looking likely for a return to reserve-team action in mid-October.
Manager John Coleman has no new injury concerns ahead of Accrington`s trip.
The only two absentees from the squad are Craig Lindfield who is recovering from a knee injury and 19 year-old Alan Burton who will not feature against Vale.
Jimmy Bell has been subject to praise from the Stanley managerial staff as he continues to impress in midfield and will be looking for his first goal, while Terry Gornell will be the lone striker again after his brace in the 3-0 win over Lincoln last week.
Leam Richardson, Chris Turner and Peter Murphy all scored on reserve duty in midweek and will be pushing for a start but may have to settle for a place on the bench.
Vale move top
Marc Richards scored the first goal Accrington had conceded on the road in the league this season to send Port Vale to the top of the table with a 2-0 win.
The visitors made a positive start and should have taken a second-minute lead when defender Phil Edwards spooned an eight-yard volley over the top.
But Vale gradually assumed control and Justin Richards went close before Marc Richards ended Stanley's excellent defensive record with a 31st-minute stunner.
John McCombe's header was flicked up by the outside of Tommy Fraser's right boot and Richards netted a sumptuous 20-yard volley for his seventh goal of the season.
Vale were close to extending their advantage when Marc Richards found Justin Richards who sent a left-foot shot inches over the top.
Accrington, to their credit, were excellent at the start of the second-half when Edwards' header tested Stuart Tomlinson before Sean McConville fired over from close range.
But Vale sewed up their fourth straight league win in the 81st minute when Jemal Johnson fed follow substitute Louis Dodds to roll a well placed shot past the unguarded Dunbavin.
