Bignot banned for Cobblers clash
Plymouth will be without the suspended Paul Bignot for their npower League Two clash with Northampton.
Bignot was sent off for lashing out at Stourbridge's Sean Evans in the two sides' FA Cup first-round replay on Tuesday, in which the Pilgrims were humbled 2-0 by their non-league hosts, and the on-loan Blackpool defender serves the first of a three-match ban against the Cobblers.
Robbie Williams could fill in in place of Bignot, while defender Darren Purse and striker Nick Chadwick are both in line for debuts after arriving at Home Park this week.
Jake Cole is expected to retain the goalkeeper's jersey, after reclaiming his place in between the sticks for the FA Cup defeat.
New signing Maxime Blanchard will be hoping for his first taste of action with Plymouth, while Matt Lecointe is pushing for a start after several appearances from the bench in recent weeks.
John Johnson comes back into the reckoning for Northampton as Tim Flowers takes charge for the first time.
Johnson missed the 7-2 home hammering by Shrewsbury as the defender was serving a one-match suspension.
He could be restored to the starting XI but Flowers, who this week replaced David Lee as caretaker manager, does not anticipate making wholesale changes to the team.
"I'm not going to make a lot of changes, but John Johnson is back from suspension so he becomes available," said Flowers, who will remain in charge until the club find a permanent successor to Gary Johnson.
"There will be the odd change here and there but there is no doubt that a lot of the players have a lot to prove.
"We will take a squad down on Friday morning and we will train on Friday afternoon at Exeter, who have kindly allowed us to use their facilities. We will go through a few things - like set-pieces - and then pick the team from there."
Defenders Byron Webster (foot) and Nana Ofori-Twumasi (knee) are long-term absentees.
Pilgrims romp home past sorry Cobblers
New-look Plymouth swept to only their third League Two victory of the season after thumping four first-half goals past struggling Northampton, eventually running out 4-1 winners at Home Park
The Cobblers, with caretaker boss Tim Flowers in charge of his first game, conceded seven against Shrewsbury last week under David Lee and they were rocked by two goals in the opening nine minutes this weekend.
Argyle - who fielded four debutants - opened the scoring from Simon Walton's eighth-minute penalty after Town skipper John Johnson handled Ashley Hemmings' cross from the left.
A minute later Argyle were 2-0 up as on-loan Stockport striker Nick Chadwick - who had already hit the woodwork - powered a near-post header into the roof of the net from Conor Hourihane's cross.
Will Atkinson smashed in a third from the angle of the penalty area after cutting inside from the right.
And Chadwick then teed up on-loan Wolves winger Hemmings for his first-ever League goal in the 44th minute, piling the misery on Town.
It could have been more but for some excellent saves from Sam Walker, the Northampton keeper palming away Atkinson's header and then tipping over a goalbound Hourihane strike from the corner.
A dour second half was livened up in the 79th minute when Walton went close with a 20-yard volley.
And then seconds after Darren Purse had cleared Paul Turnbull's stoppage-time lob off the goal-line, Northampton striker Adebayo Akinfenwa headed a 92nd-minute consolation for the Cobblers from Ben Tozer's throw-in.
