Match Preview

Blue Toon at full strength Bottom of the table Peterhead are at full strength for their match with promotion chasing Ayr United at Balmoor. Defender David Donald is back after suspension and winger Graeme Sharp is available after work commitments in Trinidad. Blue Toon boss Neale Cooper said: "You have to fight for everything when you are in the position we are in. "We have shown battling qualities down at Ayr to get two draws this season and it would be great to show our fans the same qualities as we were poor against them at our place. "We showed signs against Forfar a fortnight ago that we are up for the battle and we need to do that again." Ayr travel with the same squad that defeated Alloa last week. Goalkeeper Alan Martin continues to play through the pain of a fractured and dislocated finger. Dean Keenan remains out long term and the game has come too soon for Bobby Donnelly, who has started training but lacks match practice. Somerset Park boss Brian Reid said: "We need to win to ensure Livingston do not streak away from the chasing pack. We are raring to go and the players know that Peterhead is a long way to travel back from if you have not played well. "We won up there earlier in the season when they had their goalkeeper sent off quite early on so I am not reading too much into that game."

Match Report

Ayr leave Peterhead reeling Peterhead remain rooted to the bottom of the Third Division after a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Ayr. Third-placed Ayr took the lead after 24 minutes when Alan Trouten latched onto a lofted Paul Willis corner to thump the ball in from just outside the box. Then, after 68 minutes, Ayr looked to have sealed the victory when striker Michael Moffat raced onto a Mark Roberts through ball to slot home their second of the afternoon. Struggling Peterhead were thrown a lifeline when, in the 81st minute, substitute Dennis Wyness was brought down inside the box by Ayr centre-back Ebbie Malone. Wyness picked himself up and kept his compsure to slot in the resulting penalty. But the home side were unable to break down their high-flying opponents, and Ayr held on for the win.
