Match Preview

Ferguson waits on Little fitness Peterborough manager Darren Ferguson expects to have defender Mark Little back to face Plymouth. The former Wolves right-back missed the 1-1 draw at Huddersfield last Saturday with an ankle problem sustained in training but is fit and available. He will start while his deputy - utility man Charlie Lee - will move across to left-back to fill in for Grant Basey. Basey is likely to be out for a couple of weeks with a knee injury picked up at the Galpharm Stadium while fellow left-back Tom Kennedy only has a slight chance of involvement in the play-offs after damaging his knee ligaments in the recent win at Dagenham. Captain Grant McCann will be fit despite limping off at Huddersfield with a hamstring problem and midfielder Lee Frecklington (hernia) was in the 18-man squad for the first time since October last week. Striker Dave Hibbert is absent as he steps up his comeback from a dislocated knee suffered in November and new signing from Rushden & Diamonds Joe Day is unable to play until next season. Plymouth look set to welcome back Luke Summerfield to their squad. The midfielder has been sidelined since August with a knee injury but after playing 90 minutes for the reserves on Tuesday is ready to make his comeback for the first team, most likely as a substitute. Defender Kari Arnason along with strike duo Rory Fallon and Joe Mason missed some training sessions this week because of groin niggles but manager Peter Reid expects the trio to be fit to play. Young centre-back Curtis Nelson turned out as a substitute for England Under-18s in their 1-1 draw with Italy on Tuesday but after returning with no injuries should start. Midfielder Simon Walton played his first 90 minutes of the season, since sustaining knee ligament damage in a pre-season friendly, in the 2-0 win over Walsall last weekend and after coming through the match unscathed should retain his starting place. Versatile midfielder Chris Clark remains sidelined by the medial knee ligament injury he suffered in the defeat to Rochdale in March.

Match Report

Lewis keeps Posh in promotion picture Goalkeeper Joe Lewis was the hero with a last-gasp penalty save as Peterborough produced a super second-half turnaround to beat Plymouth 2-1 and stay in the automatic promotion picture. Darren Ferguson's men overturned an interval deficit to plunge rock-bottom Plymouth a step closer to relegation, but only after Lewis had brilliantly kept out substitute Luke Summerfield's spot-kick at the death. Earlier goals from defender Ryan Bennett and star striker Craig Mackail-Smith - who struck his 30th goal of the season - did the trick for a Posh team chasing an instant return to Championship football. Visitors Plymouth were terrific in the first period and eventually hit the front seven minutes before the break when skipper Carl Fletcher poked home a low Simon Walton free-kick delivery. Posh needed just 10 minutes of the second half to level when Bennett was picked out by an exquisite left-wing cross from Grant McCann and powerfully headed home and Mackail-Smith steered a low Mark Little cut-back under the body of goalkeeper David Button for the home side's second. Posh needed a stunning Lewis save to keep out a Walton header soon after and then relied on their big number one again at the death to save Summerfield's penaltyy after Miller had pointed to the spot when Stephane Zubar went down in the box.
