Match Preview
McCann missing for Posh Peterborough captain Grant McCann will be missing as Darren Ferguson takes charge of the first home game of his second spell as manager against Hartlepool. The midfielder will sit out a one-match suspension after he was sent off in the last minute of last weekend's 3-1 defeat at leaders Brighton. James Wesolowski is one contender to take his place in the middle while utility man Charlie Lee is another option after starting at full-back last week. Tom Kennedy is poised to play at left-back after arriving on loan from Leicester. Striker Dave Hibbert dislocated his kneecap in a match against Stockport in November and does not expect to return until April so Lee Tomlin will continue up front. Midfielder Lee Frecklington is still troubled with an ankle problem while central defender Gabriel Zakuani will be out for another six weeks or so after dislocating his shoulder. Defender Sam Collins is facing a race against time to feature for Hartlepool. The 33-year-old has been out of action since sustaining a knee injury in the New Year's Day win over Oldham and could be in line for a return. Icelander Armann Bjornsson is likely to deputise at the heart of the defence if Collins is not deemed match fit. First-team coach Mick Wadsworth will be able to call on Paul Murray, with the midfielder now back to full health after missing the midweek draw at Bristol Rovers with a virus. But forward James Brown, who was also struck down with a bug, is rated doubtful having missed training on Thursday. Wadsworth's side are just three points behind Posh in the table and beat them 2-0 at Victoria Park in October.

Match Report
Fergie back with a bang Darren Ferguson enjoyed a happy homecoming as Peterborough trounced Hartlepool 4-0. The promotion chasers struck three times in six second-half minutes to break the resistance of Hartlepool. The north-east club could have hit the front late in the first period when Andy Monkhouse and Antony Sweeney both squandered headers, and they paid the price for their poor finishing when Posh hit their stride after the break. Top-scorer Craig Mackail-Smith's powerful header set them on the way in Ferguson's first home game since returning to the London Road helm. Less than 60 seconds later Tommy Rowe was on hand to double their advantage after a wickedly deflected George Boyd shot had been turned onto the bar by the legs of Hartlepool keeper Jake Kean. Mackail-Smith then beat the offside trap to turn provider for Lee Tomlin to add a third in the 68th minute with a header from five yards. Leon McSweeney hit the post for Hartlepool from long range before James Wesolowski added the final gloss to a resounding Posh success by driving home through a crowd in the last minute.
