Match Preview

As you were for Partick Partick boss Jackie McNamara lists the same squad that drew with Morton at the weekend as Ayr visit Firhill. New recruit Conrad Balatoni will therefore miss out again due to a lack of recent games with McNamara convinced that his men will come good. The Firhill manager said: "We are not getting the goals our play deserves as we are creating chances but not taking them. "There is a really fine line between the teams in this Division and if we get a break in front of goal then we will get that first win of 2012. "Ayr will be difficult opponents but hopefully we can get the goals that will get us a win." Ayr boss Brian Reid is short of bodies as they head to Glasgow. Hamstring injury victim Andy Geggan and the suspended Jonathan Tiffoney are the latest Honest Men to become unavailable. Martyn Campbell, Alan Trouten and Sean Higgins all remain out injured, with Reid saying: "We are beyond the bare bones and I have been working on getting a couple of loan players in. I will need to step that up before kick-off against Thistle. "We can move off the bottom with a win and whilst we are short of numbers, it is a good prize to aim for. We can play better than we did at Ross County on Saturday and if we can pick up three points everyone will be delighted."

Match Report

Thistle too prickly for Ayr Partick saw off a spirited Ayr side in a thrilling 4-2 encounter at Firhill Stadium. The visitors got off to a flying start when Keigan Parker was on hand to fire home Adam Dodd's cross after four minutes. Partick levelled things up 10 minutes after the restart when Kris Doolan unleashed a fine volley from the edge of the area. Doolan claimed his second as the Jags took the lead nine minutes later, this time heading home Chris Erskine's cross. Victory was all-but ensured when Ross Robertson felled Paul Paton inside the area with 10 minutes to play - Paul Cairney stepped up to convert the kick. Michael McGowan set up a tense finish when he pulled a goal back with a stunning long-range effort three minutes from time. But Cairney settled any nerves immediately when he poked home Doolan's ball a minute later.
