Match Preview
Salvio chasing further glory Benfica winger Eduardo Salvio has his sights set on a second successive Europa League winners' medal. The 20-year-old Argentinian, who is on a season-long loan from Atletico Madrid, won the competition with the Spanish club last season. And Salvio is expected to feature as the Portuguese giants look to claim a place in the quarter-finals at the expense of Paris St Germain on Thursday. Benfica hold a 2-1 lead heading into the second leg of their round-of-16 tie in the French capital. Salvio, a 78th-minute substitute as Atletico beat Fulham in the 2010 final, told uefa.com: "I had a wonderful experience in the Europa League with Atletico. "We managed to get through every round and it was a fantastic experience. Now I am feeling the same with Benfica. "We have had a good campaign so far and took an important step with the home win against PSG. "We now have another 90 minutes and will give everything to reach the next round." Salvio has been in fine form having now established himself in the Benfica side after a slow start in Lisbon, and scored in four consecutive games coming into March. That run included the opener in the second-leg victory over Stuttgart in the previous round. Salvio added: "Looking at the home matches against Stuttgart and PSG, as well as the 2-0 win in Stuttgart, we are confident of making the last eight. "I think we can score in France like we did in Germany. We all know it will be a very difficult game but we have very good, experienced players who can help us through." Benfica hold the edge heading to the Parc des Princes courtesy of a late goal from Franco Jara at the Estadio da Luz. PSG had started superbly with Peguy Luyindula opening the scoring after 14 minutes. They remained ahead until Maxi Pereira levelled after 42 minutes and were denied a draw when Jara struck nine minutes from time. Benfica, second in the Portuguese league, head into the game on the back of a disappointing draw with struggling Portimonense in their domestic competition. PSG are without a win in three games in all competitions and drew with Montpellier at the weekend.

Match Report
Benfica into last eight Benfica booked their place in the quarter-finals of the Europa League by holding Paris St Germain to a 1-1 draw at the Parc des Princes . Leading 2-1 from the first leg, Nicolas Gaitan's away goal shortly before the half-hour mark put the Portuguese side firmly in control of the tie. Mathieu Bodmer quickly brought PSG back into the contest with a classy finish, but they never threatened another as Benfica progressed with relative ease. The aggregate victory marked an impressive turnaround in the tie for Benfica, who trailed after only 14 minutes of the first leg at the Estadio da Luz. The French side will be disappointed to go out after such an impressive start last week, but they have bigger concerns left this season than the Europa League as they battle for a place in the Champions League next season. The visitors were the first to threaten through Fabio Coentrao, who shot over from 25 yards. And they moved further clear on aggregate when Gaitan put them ahead in the 27th minute. Eduardo Salvio, who is on loan at the Lisbon club from Atletico Madrid with whom he won the competition last term, laid the ball to him and Gaitan swept it into the bottom corner from 25 yards. The Ligue 1 side gave themselves hope, though, by levelling eight minutes later. Ceara sent in a cross from the left and Bodmer crashed a volley into the top corner from the centre of the area. The hosts needed another one to take the tie to extra-time, but committing more players forward meant leaving themselves more vulnerable at the back. Oscar Cardozo fired over the top from 12 yards early in the second half before trying his luck again in the 72nd minute, this time from further out, but his shot was too high once more. The closest the hosts came to scoring again was Mamadou Sakho's header over the bar from Nene's corner 11 minutes from time as they bowed out of the competition.
