Match Preview

Buoyant O`s unlikely to change Oxford have no fresh injury or suspension worries as they prepare to welcome Bury to the Kassam Stadium. The Us will go into the game in buoyant mood following a sensational 6-1 Carling Cup victory over League One outfit Bristol Rovers in midweek. And manager Chris Wilder is expected to keep changes to a minimum as his team look to record three points in their first home league game of the season. Defender Rhys Day remains on the sidelines. The 27-year-old is hoping to return to training in a couple of weeks` time following a knee injury. On-loan Chelsea forward Danny Philliskirk scored twice in a reserve-team outing on Wednesday and is pushing for a place among the substitutes. Bury boss Alan Knill could again be without defender Ben Futcher. The centre-back is rated as 50-50 after sustaining an ankle injury during pre-season which has forced him to miss the opening two games. Knill has no new injury concerns and believes his side can build on their performance in Tuesday`s Carling Cup defeat at Sheffield Wednesday. The Shakers largely outplayed the Owls at Hillsborough but they could not turn their dominance into goals as they fell to a narrow 1-0 defeat. Knill said: "The lads have set an unbelievable standard now and if we can keep reaching that standard then we will do pretty well this year."

Match Report

Lowe seals Shakers win Ryan Lowe was Bury's hero as he grabbed the winner for the Shakers to set up a 2-1 win over Oxford. Lowe took a pass from midfielder Andy Howarth before taking a step and then stroking the ball comfortably past goalkeeper Ryan Clarke with 11 minutes remaining. An entertaining first half at the Kassam saw the sides grab a goal apiece. Asa Hall saw an early shot saved by Bury keeper Cameron Belford, but it was the vistors who opened the scoring in the 26th minute. Peter Sweeney crossed for Tom Lees who rose cleanly to head home from close range. Within five minutes the U's had struck back to level though. This time Hall was the provider as he crossed for Jack Midson to strike home a crisp shot from inside the box. Oxford's James constable twice went close for the hosts either side of Lowe's winner, but in the end the Shakers held on for a deserved three points.
