After the match a downcast Rangers manager Walter Smith said: "We never had enough in terms of basic possession of the ball and any real constructive play.

"There weren't many opportunities for either side. Osasuna had the better possession of the ball and a little more territorial advantage.

"We had only a couple of half-chances - really not enough over the game to get us through.

"We didn't play well in the first leg at all. We played reasonably well in some aspects tonight but over the two games we never created enough opportunities to go through."
