Match Preview

Dickov waits on duo Oldham boss Paul Dickov could be without a number of players for the home clash with Walsall on Easter Monday. The Latics picked up two new injuries in the 2-0 defeat at Exeter on Good Friday. Winger Chris Taylor limped off after stretching his hamstring and striker Oumare Tounkara was also forced off after taking a heavy knock. Dickov will assess the pair closer to kick-off but he could again be without club captain Reuben Hazell (knee) and Filipe Morais (hip). The pair missed the Exeter defeat and remain major doubts for the Walsall game, while Dickov is demanding an improved display against the Saddlers. He said: "As good a side as Exeter are, you can't come to places like this and give teams a two-goal start." Walsall have no new problems as their battle against relegation moves on to Boundary Park. The Saddlers, in the bottom four on goal difference, made two changes against Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday. Ollie Lancashire replaced Clayton McDonald, who is out for the season with a dislocated shoulder, while Darryl Westlake came in for Marco Gbarssin. Emmanuele Smith, Darren Byfield, Alex Nicholls and Jamie Paterson are among those players available for recalls. Emmanuel Ledesma will serve the second game of a three-match suspension, meaning the attacking midfielder will now only be available for the final match of the campaign away to Southampton. Walsall's only other absentee remains full-back Aaron Lescott, who continues to struggle with a knee ligament strain sustained at the start of March.

Match Report

Lowe late show earns Latics point Ten-man Oldham struck a late equaliser to earn a 1-1 draw and deny Walsall victory in their fight against relegation. A fluke Tom Williams goal had Walsall on course for three points but Jason Lowe levelled in spectacular style just two minutes from time. Oldham thought they had an early lead but Warren Feeney's follow-up shot was disallowed for offside after his initial header hit the crossbar. Walsall should have scored after half-an-hour but Oldham keeper Dean Brill reacted superbly in a one-against-one with Will Grigg. Julian Gray wasted another good chance for Walsall and Oliver Lancashire headed inches wide early in the second half. Oldham almost snatched the lead as Aidan White drew a fine save from Jimmy Walker, but Walsall struck after 58 minutes when Williams curled in a right-wing free-kick which eluded every Oldham defender and bounced inside the far post. Referee Darren Drysdale then angered the home side by showing a straight red card to Filipe Morais for his tackle from behind on Jordan Cook. But Lowe gave Oldham a deserved point when he drove an unstoppable shot into the top corner from just outside the box.
