Match Preview

No new worries for Dickov Oldham boss Paul Dickov has no fresh injury or suspension concerns ahead of the home clash with leaders Brighton. Midfielder Ritchie Jones missed last Saturday's defeat at Leyton Orient with a hamstring strain picked up against Sheffield Wednesday four days previously. However, he has returned to training and should be available for the clash with Gus Poyet`s side. Dickov`s men have not won in their last nine games and failed to find the net in seven of the last eight games. That dismal run has left the Latics 15 points adrift of the top six but Dickov is hopeful that an upturn in form will come soon. He said: "If we keep doing the right things, then the confidence will come back and so will the right results." Brighton manager Gus Poyet has no fresh injury concerns. The Seagulls will still be without Jim McNulty, who has been sidelined with an ankle injury since November. Jamie Smith has not featured this year as he continues his recovery from a foot injury. Top scorer Glenn Murray will be buoyed by his nomination for the npower Player of the Year Award. The striker scored his 18th goal of the season in the 2-0 victory over Tranmere. Fran Sandaza scored in injury-time to give Poyet's men a 2-1 victory at Prenton Park in September.

Match Report

Barnes keeps Brighton on the march Brighton's promotion march continued as substitute Ashley Barnes hit the only goal at luckless Oldham. The League One leaders were outplayed by a side with no win in 10 games but Barnes struck the decisive blow mid-way through the second half. Brighton's Chris Wood went close early on but they needed goalkeeper Casper Ankergren to make a flying save after Dale Stephens hit a superb shot from 25 yards. Oldham were firmly on top and Filipe Morais drilled wide before strong penalty appeals were ignored after Brighton defender Marcos Painter appeared guilty of handball. Ankergren saved well from Morais but Brighton were unlucky on the stroke of half-time when Glenn Murray headed against the bar. Murray also fired wide before Brighton took a controversial lead in the 67th minute as the assistant referee failed to give offside and Barnes darted clear to slot inside the far post from 10 yards. The goal-scoring sub was forced off with injury before Brighton went into their shell with Oldham pressing hard for an equaliser. Ankergren just about denied Cedric Evina and, deep into stoppage time, Kieran Lee shaved the woodwork from a tight angle.
