Match Preview

Forest wait on duo Striker Robert Earnshaw and defender Kelvin Wilson remain concerns for Nottingham Forest ahead of the visit of Swansea. Earnshaw, who has recently recovered from a hamstring injury, sustained a thigh problem during the goalless draw at Hull. Wilson missed that game with a calf complaint and has not recovered as quickly as manager boss Billy Davies had hoped. "Both players are touch and go for Saturday and we will just have to see how they progress," said Davies. "It is a long Championship season and we know we are going to have problems like this." Luke Chambers is on standby to deputise for Wilson once more while Dexter Blackstock will almost certainly return to the starting line up if Earnshaw fails to make it. Long-term absentee David McGoldrick hit the comeback trail this week with a 45-minute run-out for the reserves following shoulder surgery but this game may be too soon for the forward to be considered. Forest remain without a win at the City Ground this season but are unbeaten in the last six matches. Brendan Rodgers will revert back to his strongest XI having made seven changes against Peterborough on Tuesday. Ineligible forward Frank Nouble and rested regulars Dorus de Vries, Garry Monk, Neil Taylor, Mark Gower, Nathan Dyer and Joe Allen could come back in. However, the likes of Stephen Dobbie, David Cotterill, Jordi Lopez and Cedric van der Gun will be hoping they may have done enough to impress Rodgers. One man who will definitely start against Forest is Scott Sinclair, who built on his impressive form since moving to south Wales with a hat-trick to down Posh 3-1 and secure Swansea's progression into the fourth round of the Carling Cup. Craig Beattie (calf), Gorka Pintado (shoulder), Ferrie Bodde (knee) and Tom Butler (thigh) remain sidelined, although Angel Rangel (thigh) is closing in on a return to first-team contention. Key Swans midfielder Darren Pratley comes face-to-face with the team who tried to secure his services over the summer, with the contentious words of Forest chief executive Mark Arthur straining relations between the two clubs.

Match Report

McGugan makes the difference for Forest Lewis McGugan starred for Nottingham Forest as they recorded their first home victory of the season. The midfielder scored twice - the first coming from the penalty spot - before leaving the field to a standing ovation after 75 minutes to be replaced by Radoslaw Majewski, who helped himself to a goal within 10 minutes of coming on. Substitute Cedric Van der Gun netted for Swansea in the final minute but it was mere consolation for the Welsh club, who offered very little and remain pointless away from home in the npower Championship this season. Brendan Rodgers was without midweek hat-trick hero Scott Sinclair, who was nursing a tight hamstring following the Carling Cup win at Peterborough, and as a result Swansea lacked a cutting edge in the final third. The recalled Dexter Blackstock, the only change made by Forest boss Billy Davies, made an instant impact as he was brought down by Swansea goalkeeper Dorus De Vries after 12 minutes. Blackstock has been on penalty duty this season but the big striker missed from the spot in the last home game against Millwall so handed the responsibility to McGugan, who made no mistake. Swansea threatened for the first time just before the half-hour mark but Joe Allen`s shot from the edge of the area was easily dealt with by Lee Camp. McGugan blazed over the crossbar shortly afterwards before Paul Anderson, who spent the 2007/08 campaign on loan at Swansea, forced De Vries to tip his shot over after 35 minutes. Good link-up play between Chris Gunter and Chris Cohen created the chance for McGugan to score his and Forest`s second goal as he shot into the roof of the net from 12 yards out. Substitute Andrea Orlandi sent an effort over the crossbar as Swansea made a rare foray into Forest territory midway through the second half. Davies` side sealed victory with six minutes remaining when Dele Adebola teed up fellow substitute Majewski, who tip-toed past a couple of defenders inside the area before beating De Vries with a low shot. That was not the end of the scoring, though, as Allen escaped down the right-hand side and crossed for Van der Gun to score from close range.
