Match Preview
Beckwith doubt for Cobblers Northampton could be without defender Dean Beckwith for Saturday's visit of Macclesfield. Beckwith had to be replaced at half-time in the 2-1 defeat at Chesterfield in midweek with a groin strain and is a serious doubt. Ben Tozer was dropped by new manager Gary Johnson on Tuesday - with John Johnson moving from right-back to centre-back - but will return if Beckwith is ruled out. Striker Billy McKay is out for around six weeks after dislocating his elbow and Leon McKenzie is struggling with his knee problem. Midfielder Alistair Slowe has been released. Full-back Marcus Hall has missed the last two games through illness while defender Craig Hinton has had an injection in a long-standing knee injury and will be out for around a month. Midfielder Ryan Gilligan is available after a loan spell at Torquay while new signings Seth Nana Ofori-Twumasi, Jamie Record and Steve Collis could all make their home debuts. Macclesfield manager Gary Simpson is again without suspended strike duo Ricky Sappleton and Emile Sinclair for the trip. The pair were sent off along with Wycombe's Dave Winfield during the stormy League Two encounter at Moss Rose, and must now serve the final game of their three-match bans. Striker Vinny Mukendi could remain sidelined with a knee injury but Simpson will be reluctant to make any changes to his side following the 1-0 home win over Crewe in midweek. The result eased the Silkmen`s relegation fears and left Simpson in a buoyant mood ahead of the visit to Sixfields. Simpson said: "The league is so tight that any side that puts together a few games unbeaten will jump up a few places, so that's our aim."

Match Report
Daniel downs free-falling Cobblers Colin Daniel grabbed the only goal of the game as Macclesfield sent Northampton crashing to their fourth straight defeat. The winner came early in the second half but was no more than the visitors deserved after they held the upper hand throughout the contest. The result leaves Northampton without a victory in the last 10 games and looking over their shoulders at the relegation zone. Macclesfield dominated the first half with Tyrone Barnett denied by Chris Dunn and then having a goalbound shot blocked by Marcus Hall. At the other end, Jose Veiga saved bravely at John Johnson's feet but then saw Shaun Harrad flash a shot wide following an error from Paul Morgan. Harrad then volleyed wide at the far post but Macclesfield made the breakthrough nine minutes after the restart when Sam Wedgebury's cross was only partially cleared and Daniel drove home from the edge of the bar. Veiga tipped over a dipping free-kick from Josh Walker on the hour but Wedgebury should have doubled Macclesfield's lead six minutes later only for Dunn save at his feet after he raced clear. Veiga produced a fingertip save in the 70th minute to keep out an Andy Holt header and Harrad could only fire the rebound into the side-netting.
