McKenzie poser for Sampson Northampton boss Ian Sampson will make a late decision whether to involve Leon McKenzie in their home match against Lincoln. The striker has been plagued with a knee problem all season and the Cobblers have had to manage the injury carefully, so after playing 63 minutes against Crewe on Saturday he could be rested. On-loan duo Newcastle defender Ben Tozer and Leyton Orient striker Ryan Jarvis will be available but are due to return to their parent clubs after the match. Kevin Thornton was dropped to the bench against the Alex after struggling with flu but could return to the starting line-up, whereas fellow central midfielder Ryan Gilligan missed the New Year`s Day match altogether as he was suffering with illness but is expected to come back into contention. Forward Tadhg Purcell remains on the sidelines as he recovers from the serious knee injury sustained in August which ended his season. Lincoln boss Steve Tilson is likely to shuffle his pack for the encounter. The Imps, who have been boosted by Ashley Grimes extending his loan spell from Millwall, have no new problems following the 2-1 home defeat to Bradford on New Year`s Day. Midfielder Clark Keltie has been nursing a thigh strain and remains a doubt along with defender Paul Green, who has a knock. Kern Miller is likely to remain out with a broken nose and jaw. Andrew Hutchinson could recover from a hamstring problem while fellow forwards Ben Hutchinson and Drewe Broughton are among those hoping for recalls. Midfielder Gavin McCallum and the versatile Cian Hughton are also options for Tilson.

Johnson winner worthy of points John Johnson grabbed a late winner to earn Northampton all three points against fellow strugglers Lincoln with a 2-1 victory at Sixfields. The defender hopped up to hit an unstoppable 88th-minute clincher to ease Town's worries and leave the Imps in trouble at the wrong end of League Two. A poor first half saw both sides struggle to create any worthwhile chances. Billy McKay twice went close for Northampton with shots on the turn while Lincoln's best moment came midway through the half when Ashley Grimes forced Chris Dunn to tip over, while Ben Hutchinson then saw his header saved by the Cobblers keeper. Northampton had a strong penalty appeal turned down before the break when Danny Hone charged down a close-range shot from Ryan Jarvis. McKay headed over on the hour mark before giving the Cobblers a 64th-minute lead, firing home from close range after Andy Holt's long throw was headed on by Abdul Osman. Josh O'Keefe levelled matters in the 74th minute with a 30-yard piledriver which flew into the top corner with Dunn well beaten. Yet Lincoln's hopes of snatching a point were dashed when Johnson's superb late strike from 25-yards nestled in the top corner with Joe Anyon left rooted to the spot.
