Match Preview
New signings in line for Cobblers starts Northampton manager Ian Sampson will be able to call upon new signings Shaun Harrad and Josh Walker for Tuesday night's visit of Crewe to Sixfields. Striker Harrad joined from Burton two weeks ago for an undisclosed fee but missed the win over Oxford after having a planned mouth operation. But he is available now and could partner Leon McKenzie in attack as the former Norwich striker has had 10 days to rest his thigh injury since the Oxford game. Walker could make a second debut for the club after joining on loan from Watford having spent time at Sixfields last season while on loan from Middlesbrough. Left-back Liam Davis is still out with his knee injury so Marcus Hall will continue to deputise while midfielder Kevin Thornton is still struggling with his hamstring injury. Striker Tadhg Purcell remains out with a knee injury sustained in August. Crewe's leading scorer Clayton Donaldson misses out through suspension. The 16-goal striker was sent off for violent conduct during the home win over Bradford. He was due to begin his three-match ban against Accrington on Saturday but that game was postponed. With Calvin Zola having joined Burton on loan, Donaldson`s absence opens the door for either Ajay Leitch-Smith, Joel Grant or Nick Powell to come into the side. On-loan goalkeeper Rhys Taylor is expected to replace Steve Phillips after serving a one-match suspension. Club captain David Artell could also come back into contention following just over a fortnight on the sidelines with a calf injury. If he does not make it, Adam Dugdale will continue in defence.

Match Report
Six at Sixfields for Cobblers Northampton hit six goals for the first time ever at Sixfields as they demolished high-flying Crewe 6-2. Six different players got on the scoresheet as the Cobblers came from behind to leave Crewe shell-shocked and improved their own chances of a charge towards the play-offs. Crewe took a fifth-minute lead when Northampton goalkeeper Chris Dunn fumbled a shot from Ajay Leitch-Smith. But that was as good as it got for the visitors as new signing Shaun Harrod equalised six minutes later on his debut, beating Rhys Taylor from close range, and Michael Jacobs put Northampton ahead from a 14th-minute free kick which found its way into the bottom corner. Crewe missed a great chance to draw level in teh 35th minute from the penalty spot. But Dunn redeemed himself when he saved well to keep out Ashley Westwood's spot-kick. And it got worse for Crewe a minute before the break when Dean Beckwith headed home a Josh Walker corner, Two goals in three minutes after the restart all but ended the contest. Skipper Andy Holt fired home a minute into the second half and two minutes later Abdul Osman hit the fifth with a long range strike. Substitute Billy McKay finally hit number six in the 80th minute after David Artell had trodden on the ball before Crewe substitute Antoni Sarcevic grabbed a lat consolation with two minutes of normal time left.
