Match Preview
Duo back for Cobblers Northampton will have Leon McKenzie and John Johnson available for their home clash with Stockport. Striker McKenzie (knee) and defender Johnson (thigh) both missed last week's FA Cup defeat at Sheffield Wednesday, but after training all week boss Ian Sampson expects the pair to be fit. Sampson will be without Craig Hinton and Steve Guinan as they have joined Luton and Forest Green respectively on loan and Guinan's move could become permanent in January. Striker Tadhg Purcell remains the only injury absentee and he will not feature again this season as he nurses a knee ligament injury. The game at Sixfields looks set to beat the freezing conditions and a club statement read: "The club will continue to monitor the ongoing weather conditions but are likely to leave the pitch covers in place until as late as possible on Saturday. "The temperatures are predicted to rise during Saturday, so the club remain hopeful that the game will go ahead as planned. No pitch inspection is currently anticipated." Stockport boss Paul Simpson will be without defender Mansour Assoumani through suspension. Assoumani was sent off in County`s recent 5-0 home defeat at the hands of Port Vale and will be replaced by Jordan Rose. Stockport this week extended Southampton midfielder Anthony Pulis' loan spell for a third month - until January 4. He looks set to earn a starting role but rookie goalkeeper Ryan Allsop has returned to West Brom following the end of his loan spell at Edgeley Park. County`s last match was the home thumping against Vale and Simpson said: "The players have been very disappointed and I think they were a bit embarrassed as well but the focus now is getting a result against Northampton."

Match Report
Cobblers ease to victory Goals in each half from Kevin Thornton and sub Michael Jacobs earned Northampton a 2-0 win against Stockport - only their fourth home victory of the season. Recalled to the starting line-up, Thornton gave Northampton the perfect start with a fourth-minute goal, cutting inside two defenders before beating goalkeeper Matt Glennon with a neat finish. Cobblers had two penalty appeals turned down when Leon McKenzie and John Johnson went down in the box, and Stockport made the most of the let off to work their way into the game. Anthony Pulis fired wide at the near post and Greg Tansey tested Chris Dunn. Northampton picked up the tempo again in the second half as Thornton saw a shot turned around the post by Glennon and from the ensuing corner, Abdul Osman saw his header deflected over. Jacobs secured the points in the 75th minute when McKenzie set him free in the box and he curled the ball around Glennon from a tight angle. The unmarked George Donnelly missed a great chance to reduce the arrears a minute later, but Northampton almost added a third when Glennon saved from McKenzie and Jacobs struck the upright from the rebound.
