Match Preview
No change for returning Lasley Motherwell midfielder Keith Lasley has had no thoughts about changing his approach to the game as he prepares to return from his fourth suspension of the season. Lasley missed last week's defeat by Celtic for picking up six yellow cards in the Clydesdale Bank Premier League, having previously been sent off three times this season, twice against Hearts and once for a late tackle on Aberdeen midfielder Fraser Fyvie. But the 32-year-old has also picked up a player of the month award and scored five goals, most of them spectacular, finding the best form of his career under Stuart McCall. And the central midfielder is not going to hold back when he faces European rivals St Johnstone at Fir Park. "I think my approach is wholehearted but before his season I had not been sent off," Lasley said. "Obviously I was disappointed with the Aberdeen one, I fully held my hands up and apologised for it, but there was definitely nothing malicious in it. "I can't think of many other bad tackles I've made this season. The one with the two bookings I was quite disappointed about. "You have got to accept the flak at times. On the surface, three red cards in a short period of time doesn't look good. "You have just got to accept that fact and move on. "I certainly won't change my approach in any sort of way. I will approach the game as I have done since I started playing football and that certainly won't change." Lasley added: "The manager wouldn't want anyone in his team who is going out to hurt people but he likes people who will give him 100%, and everyone in the dressing room certainly gives him that." Motherwell have a full squad which gives McCall the chance to restore his influential central midfield pairing of Lasley and Steve Jennings, who has also served a recent suspension. Lasley said: "It's always enjoyable playing with Steve. We have managed to strike up a little bit of a partnership in there. "He has been immense for us really this year, he has been very consistent and it's a pleasure to play alongside him. "Hopefully these last four games we can have everyone fit and vying for positions and hopefully that will be a key for us getting the points we need." St Johnstone manager Steve Lomas claims the uncertainty surrounding Rangers is having an impact on his long-term planning. Despite the Blue Knights tabling a bid on Friday, there is no guarantee Rangers will exit administration soon and manager Ally McCoist has broached the prospect of moving into the Third Division next season if the club does not survive in its present form. Lomas is focused on helping Saints seal a European place but he would also like to have players secured for next season. With Rangers in crisis, and Scottish Premier League clubs set to vote on financial fair play proposals on Monday, Lomas feels unable to do so. "There's obviously a lot of unrest at the Glasgow Rangers situation," Lomas told STV. "It's a difficult time. "We are trying to get contract offers to players that we want but it is probably taking a bit longer than is ideal. "You would like to have the ones you would want for next season tied up already. "Unfortunately with the current climate and the Rangers shadow hanging over everything it's probably why it has taken longer." St Johnstone's 2-0 defeat by Dundee United last weekend has made them outsiders for the second Champions League spot, sitting five points behind third-placed Motherwell with four games left. Saints also trail United and are only two points above Hearts, who could deny them a Europa League place, but a win at Fir Park would keep their hopes of the major prize alive. Lomas, who has top scorer Francisco Sandaza suspended, said: "It's a big week but it's a great week, this is what you want to be in for, big games, you don't want the season petering out. "That's what we've been trying to get across to the boys that if we win we are right back in the mix again so it's a massive incentive for us."
