Match Report

Celtic boss Gordon Strachan said after his side's win: "The football was a joy to behold at times last week but the commitment today was a joy.

"Performance-wise, in terms of playing football, that's the worst we've played in the last five games - and it's not easy to play football out there on that pitch.

"That's the least chances we've made in the last five games but we were better at finishing today.

"Our form has been better than that but goals can help smooth over some cracks."

Motherwell manager Mark McGhee said: "It's not just the fact we didn't deal with Venegoor of Hesselink; it was the quality of delivery.

"We probably had as many corners and free-kicks from wide positions as Celtic did, but our quality wasn't anywhere near as good, and it didn't look like we were going to get opportunities from those situations.

"However, every time they got a corner or a free-kick from a wide area, Robson and Nakamura's quality was so good they always looked like they would score.

"We've lost for that reason. We were beaten by a better team but the margin reflected the quality of the set-pieces."
