Match Preview

Moore pins hopes on Forsyth Morton manager Allan Moore is hopeful defender Ross Forsyth will be able to return against Falkirk after three months out with a groin injury. Moore wants Forsyth to add experience to a backline that lost six goals to Motherwell in the Scottish Cup last Saturday. Captain Stuart McCaffrey remains out, however, with Moore saying: "Ross has trained this week and it is looking good that he can start the game. We have missed Stuart and Ross at the back and having one of them back would be a bonus. Despite last week's defeat Moore is looking forward to the visit of the Bairns, saying: "We beat them here after going a goal behind and also played really well at their place despite losing 1-0. We are keen to get going again." Second-placed Falkirk have star striker Farid El Alagui suspended for the trip. Defender Kieran Duffie and midfielder Blair Alston are both rated as doubts by manager Steven Pressley due to knocks, with the Bairns boss saying: "We have had two very hard matches against Allan Moore's side so far this season and it would be nice to make up for the game they beat us in. "This is our first game since the Scottish Communities League Cup semi-final against Celtic and I am looking for the players to show the form they did that day but get a more positive result this time out."

Match Report

Bairns held to stalemate Falkirk missed the opportunity to close the gap on Scottish First Division leaders Ross County after being held to a goalless draw by Morton. Morton had an early chance to go ahead but Derek Young's close-range header from Peter MacDonald's cross went over the bar after two minutes. The home side continued to dominate the early exchanges but it was the Bairns who almost broke the deadlock when Colin Stewart produced a brilliant reflex save to tip Jordan White's header over the bar from six yards in the 25th minute. The Greenock club's best chance came after 48 minutes when Thomas Scobbie was adjudged to have handled in the area and MacDonald's weak penalty was easily caught by Michael McGovern.
