Shrimps unchanged to tackle Shrimpers Morecambe boss Sammy McIlroy is unlikely to make any changes when his side host Southend. The Shrimps claimed a shock 2-0 win at npower League Two table-toppers Chesterfield last weekend as goals from Kevan Hurst and James Spencer secured the visitors' first away victory since early January. Defender Paul Scott is stepping up his fitness but is set to remain absent as he recovers from a knee operation. Meanwhile, winger Adam Rundle has joined Gateshead on loan until the end of the season. Rundle joined the Shrimps in July 2010, but has been limited to just nine starts at the Globe Arena. Midfielder Craig Stanley has extended his loan spell at Torquay until the end of the season. Southend midfielder Kane Ferdinand faces a late fitness test as he struggles with the ankle problem that has plagued him in recent weeks. Striker Blair Sturrock is available for selection after overcoming the stomach bug which forced him off in the 55th minute of the 1-1 home draw with Northampton last Saturday. Centre-back Bilel Mohsni is again sidelined with ankle ligament damage and it will be three weeks before a time on his comeback can be re-assessed. Winger Ryan Hall was jailed this week after being convicted of affray. The Shrimpers have shot up to eighth in League Two just two points off the play-offs after a run of just one defeat in 10 games.

Drummond gets the winner Morecambe produced their second successive win after a fine performance gave them a 2-1 victory against Southend. The Shrimps secured the double over the Shrimpers with Stewart Drummond's header just after the hour giving Sammy McIlroy's side only their fifth home win of the campaign. Morecambe started well and took the lead just before the half hour when Chris McCready nipped in front of his marker to head a Kevan Hurst corner past Rhys Evans from six yards out. After a poor first half Southend came back strongly after the break and were level in the 51st minute thanks to a penalty. Hurst was adjudged to have brought down Anthony Grant in the area and Barry Corr stepped up to place the spot kick beyond Barry Roche. The home side came back strongly and regained the lead just after the hour when Drummond rose above Chris Barker to head past Evans from six yards out. Morecambe went close to a third when Danny Carlton hit the crossbar with a long range effort before Southend came close to a late equaliser when Ryan Hall's free kick was deflected inches wide.
