Tweed names himself for Elgin test
Montrose player manager Steven Tweed has named himself in the squad for the visit of Elgin City after shaking off a calf problem.
Tweed will be missing the banned pair of Stephen McNally and Daryl Nicol with injured defender Jonathan Crawford also out.
The Links Park boss is desperate for this game to go ahead as a win would move his men closer to their opponents in the table and bring to an end a run of five league games without a win.
He said: "We need to get back to winning ways in the league and it would be a great reward for everyone involved in helping make the pitch playable if we picked up the three points."
The big freeze has helped Elgin have a fully fit squad.
Defender Allan Dempsie, midfielder Ross O'Donoghue and the front pair of Craig Gunn and Barry Wilson have all shaken off niggling injuries as the enforced break came to their rescue.
Borough Briggs boss Ross Jack said: "The break has been kind to us in that we got some players fully fit, however it has not been kind in other ways.
"We were on a great run so it was very frustrating that we could not build on that.
"The roads should be clear and it is all systems go. We have managed to keep the boys ticking over so we are not in too bad a shape."
Craig gunn`s down Montrose
Craig Gunn's second-half strike was enough to earn Elgin victory over Montrose at the Links Park stadium.
Sean Crighton headed a good chance over for Montrose early on before Gunn was denied by home keeper Daniele Giordano on the half-hour.
The deadlock was broken eight minutes into the second half when Gunn found the bottom corner from 12 yards after good work by Barry Wilson
Paul Tosh was foiled by a fine save from Elgin stopper Peter Donnelly as Montrose searched for an equaliser.
But it was Giordano who needed to be alert to thwart Craig Frizzel as the visitors came close to doubling their advantage and wrapping up the points at the death.
