Farningham gears up for new challenge
Ray Farningham will take charge of his first game as Montrose interim boss when East Stirling are in town.
Farningham takes the reins following the resignation of player-manager Steven Tweed due to work commitments.
He has had to discount Tweed from the playing squad, along with his central defensive partner Alan Campbell, who is suspended.
Hugh Davidson and Nicky Smith will also miss out through injury.
Farningham said: "I have agreed to take the side for the next 10 games and I will give it my best shot starting against East Stirling.
"They are a good set of players at this club but we have carried no luck at all with injuries this season and that has affected results."
East Stirling are boosted by having striker Stephen Maguire back in ranks for the trip.
Youngster Craig Scott keeps his place in the squad after a goalscoring debut at the weekend.
Shire head coach Jim McInally is hoping defenders Craig Tully, Dean Richardson and Darren Kelly can all be included despite carrying knocks, although Paul Weaver is suspended.
The Shire have lost 10 of their last 11 games, but they will be no throwing in the towel according to assistant manager David Nicholls.
He said: "We will take heart from our first half performance against Arbroath at the weekend when we were the better team and were unlucky to go in level."
Slick Shire halt losing streak
East Stirling ended an 11-game winless run with a convincing 2-0 victory over Montrose at Links Park.
Goals from John Neil and Fraser Team at the end of each half wrapped up the points for the visitors.
The Shire opened the scoring in the 44th minute following a good passage of play which eventually saw Montrose keeper Ramiro Gonzalez tip Charlie Grant's fierce effort round the post only to be beaten by Neil's close-range header from the resulting corner.
The second half saw both sides limited to a number of long-range efforts until Team doubled the advantage with a low drive from the edge of the 18-yard box in the second minute of stoppage time.
