Match Report

Great goalkeeping and a missed penalty kept the score sheet blank at Huish Park where Yeovil needed maximum points to get out of the League One relegation zone and the Dons needed a maximum to keep their challenge for automatic promotion alive.

Yeovil introduced three loan-signings and they all played a significant part.

Jonathan Obika and Andros Townsend, two teenagers from Tottenham Hotspur, featured early on.

Obika got the ball in the net in the 11th minute but was ruled offside and, in the 29th minute, the lively Townsend won a penalty.

He went down under a clumsy challenge from Flavien Belson on the edge of the box but the spot-kick from Gavin Tomlin lacked power and goalkeeper Willy Gueret dived to his right to save easily.

That miss was to cost Yeovil's new boss, Terry Skiverton, his first victory since he took over from Russell Slade but the spirit that had been missing, as his team conceded nine goals in the last two matches, was now back and Yeovil were buzzing.

Yeovil's third loan-signing was Chris Weale, returning on-loan to his former club from Bristol City. He made a fantastic 17th minute save from a free-kick by Jemal Johnson and continued to add his considerable presence to the defence.

On two occasions when Weale was beaten there were goal-line clearances, first by Terrell Forbes from Jason Puncheon and then by Danny Hutchins from a Miguel Llera header.

In the 47th minute Forbes made his clearance with Weale stranded and Hutchins headed his clearance against the underside of the bar and away as the Dons pushed for a late winner.

However, it was Yeovil who almost snatched a dramatic win in stoppage time.

A terrific drive by Townsend looked a goal all the way but Gueret somehow managed to turn it over the bar.
