Boss targets fitness boost Middlesbrough boss Tony Mowbray is hoping for a significant fitness boost as the npower Championship campaign approaches its finale. Scott McDonald, Rhys Williams and Faris Haroun could all play a part in the run-in, although none are likely to be fit in time for Saturday's home clash with Bristol City. McDonald has returned to training following medial ligament damage but is still 10 days away from full fitness, while Williams' ankle ligament injury remains in plaster, but perhaps only for another 10 days, and he could be back in action two weeks after that. Haroun is also training after a hamstring strain and while the weekend might be too soon for him, he could be available for the trip to Ipswich on Tuesday evening. Meanwhile, midfielder Barry Robson completes his three-match ban on Saturday and will be in contention for a place at Portman Road. Bristol City will be without Liam Fontaine, but boss Derek McInnes has moved to strengthen his defence in his skipper's absence. Fontaine was sent off during the 2-0 home defeat to Watford on Tuesday night and, after an appeal against the dismissal failed, the centre-back will serve the first match of a three-game ban at the Riverside Stadium. Christian Ribeiro has been recalled from his loan spell at Scunthorpe in order to provide cover at the back and could be included in the matchday squad, while Andre Amougou and Dekel Keinan will almost certainly be involved after joining on loan from Burnley and Cardiff respectively. Forward Hogan Ephraim also joined the Robins until the end of the season from QPR on loan deadline day. The Robins have a number of players out injured, with Cole Skuse still a week away from a return from a broken toe, Lewin Nyatanga missing with an ankle problem and James Wilson out for the season with an ankle knock of his own. Midfielder Marvin Elliott (Achilles) and striker David Clarkson (ankle) have both been ruled out for the remainder of the campaign, while on-loan midfielder Sean Davis has returned to parent club Bolton early after he picked up a thigh strain.
