Late fitness tests for Met trio Met Police boss Jimmy Cooper will be without defender Craig Tanner for his side's FA Cup first-round clash with League One Crawley. The money-spinning tie will come too soon for the left-back who remains sidelined due to a cartilage injury. The Ryman League Premier Division side will give late fitness tests to midfielder Matt Smart, club captain Steve Sutherland and defender James Tyrell ahead of kick-off. Met midfielder Tyron Smith is expected to keep his place in the team after his two goals helped Cooper's side to a 3-0 win over South Park in the fourth qualifying round of the competition. Cooper told Hampton People: "We'll certainly be going out and having a go. "It's going to be a difficult game, and we need Crawley to have an off day." Crawley are without the suspended Hope Akpan as they aim to avoid an FA Cup giantkilling. Akpan starts a four-match ban after receiving his second red card of the season during the 1-1 draw with Oldham last weekend. Loan duo Nicky Ajose and Jonathan Forte, borrowed from Peterborough and Southampton respectively, have been denied permission to play in the competition by their parent clubs. But boss Richie Barker has received a boost as Tottenham have cleared defender Nathan Byrne to take part in the game. Joe Walsh is back in training following a hamstring injury picked up last month and will be given a fitness test ahead of the game. Shaun Cooper is nearing full fitness after missing six weeks with a groin injury, but the defender is unlikely to play any part.
