86mins
Joe Hart again denies Villa as Agbonlahor uses his pace to latch onto a long hoof upfield but the keeper is there to get his body in the way.
85mins
Kelvin Etuhu has shown promise of late and he is on again here, in place of Bianchi for the final few minutes.
84mins
Superb defending from Ball but Reo-Coker has wasted a great chance having outmuscled Gelson he had Agbonlahor free to his left but his pass only found Ball's legs and the City man clears.
82mins
Great play from the substitutes Corluka and Garrido with the latter looping the ball to the far post where Petrov arrives and almost finds the bottom corner.
80mins
However, the same player now makes a clumsy challenge on Martin Petrov and he is booked - probably for persistent offending.
78mins
Nigel Reo-Coker has just made the most important tackle of the game. The ball was bouncing around the halfway line and foru City players were in attack with the midfielder all on his own but he beats Gelson to the ball and Villa escape.
76mins
Elano is now coming off for City with Garrido coming on in his place in what appears to be a defensive change from Sven.
74mins
Shaun Maloney hasn't been able to really influence things in midfield and he will be replaced by Petrov who has recovered from a hamstring strain.
73mins
City break really well form back to front and Petrov delays his delivery a touch too long and Bianchi, who was free, is denied by Bouma who gets back in front of him.
70mins
City are making a change as Hamann goes off and Corluka is on and the right back will play in central midfield.
69mins
The home fans are ahppy as Vassell picks up a booking for persistent offending.
68mins
Elano has barely had a kick in this second half and he is visually getting a little frustrated by the fact he can't influence things in attack.
65mins
Villa are back to enjoying the lion's share of possession and although they haven't been able to create the same openings as in the first half they are beginning to threaten to do just that.
62mins
Another yellow card this time for Ball as he trips Ashley Young after the winger played a clever one-to with Barry on the right side.
61mins
WIth Dunne out of position Laursen sprints forward to give Carew an option but the striker elects to keep the ball for himself and is eventually muscled out of it by Hamann and Richards.
58mins
And he has to be careful now Gelson because he has just brought down Maloney and although it would have been harsh he could have been in serious trouble there.
56mins
The game has got a little scrappy now and Gelson scythes down Agbonlahor rather deliberately a picks up a caution.
55mins
Gareth Barry has been booked for his reaction towards the referee after Carew goes down under challenge from Dunne, although their appeared to be little contact.
54mins
Good skill from Agbonlahor as he latches onto Maloney's forward header and immediately flicks it over Dunne but his shot is not well struck and it dribbles wide.
52mins
The Villains fans are up in arms as they believe the referee is favouring the men from Manchester - although their claims look to have little substance to be honesst.
49mins
The visitors are now looking a little more dangerous up front and Dunne is finally managing to get somewhat of a measure of Carew.
46mins
City starting quickly again as Petrov somehow curls a superb cross in from the left and Vassell rises at the back post but its just too high as the former Villa striker loops it onto the top of the net.
46mins
The second period is underway and it will be interesting to see how the respective managers' words will be taken on board by the players.
45mins
HT:A Villa 1-1 Man City: City began well and deserved their lead but Villa have enjoyed the better of the half in general and John Carew has given a masterclass
45mins
There will be just one minute of added time.
44mins
Carew is putting on a masterclass in how to play as a target man as he again holds off Dunne and Richards before slipping Young in behind but for once his ball in is not quite good enough as it evades the oncoming Maloney at the back post.
42mins
A bit of relief for City as Villa take their foot off the gas for a few moments as the game edges towards the break.
38mins
Dietmar Hamann is deservedly given the game's first yellow card as he trips Agbonlahor before he could get into his stride.
36mins
City finally manage to get themselves into the Villa half but Bianchi can't bring it under control and Villa bring it clear with Bouma.
33mins
Joe Hart is proving to be the scourge of John Carew as he comes out to smother the ball after the big striker had made Richards look like a statue. However, he needs treatment as Carew clattered into him as he fell.
32mins
Agbonlahor works hard against Richards as he stabs it through for Carew to smash one from the edge of the box and Hart does superbly to get a fingertip to it as the ball glances wide off the post.
31mins
City have gone right into their shell since that Carew strike and at the moment it appears only a matter of time before the home team take the lead because City are inviting them onto them.
28mins
Agbonlahor is in behind again and this time he is hauled down surely by Richards but the referee isn't interested as the pacey striker falls - if he had given it then Richards would have been in real trouble.
27mins
Again Young puts in a superb ball and Agbonlahor this time stabs it goalwards and it is off the line again by Ball - the debate over goal-line technology may start again after this, as it looked very very close.
26mins
Ashley Young with the dangerous delivery from the corner and Dunne beats Laursen to it this time and he almost heads it into his own net.
22mins
Gareth Barry this time curls in a free-kick and Dunne - who has looked a little shaky - is beaten in the air by Laursen and Ball is forced to hack it off the line.
20mins
Great battling from Reo-Coker and the through pass is good as well and Carew goes through again but this time Micah Richards is able to use his pace to cover the Norweigan and clear.
19mins
It is amazing the difference that a goal makes because suddenly Villa are quicker to the loose ball and Man City are now unable to find the fluid movement they had earlier.
17mins
Villa are suddenly wide awake and the likes of Young and Agbonlahor are seeing so much more of the ball in the last few moments than they had before that equaliser.
14mins
GOAL:A Villa 1-1 Man City: (14mins) What a way to do it! John Carew controls it brilliantly before setting off on a superb individual run before beating Hart with a cool finish.
13mins
That goal was coming for the visitors because they have been the far superior side and Villa really need to step their game up a few gears because Elano and Petrov are seeign too much of the ball.
12mins
GOAL:A Villa 0-1 Man City: (12mins) Superb play from Elano and Petrov who bends it across the box and Bianchi could hardly miss it.

Match Preview
Aston Villa will be looking to put their UEFA Cup qualification challenge back on track when they host Manchester City at Villa Park.
Martin O'Neill's side have seen their top-six dreams falter in recent weeks after picking up just one point from the last nine on offer.
That solitary point came courtesy of last weekend's 1-1 draw with Sunderland and, worryingly for O'Neill, his side haven't won at home since a 2-0 win over Derby County on November 3.
Back-to-back defeats at the hands of Portsmouth and Arsenal before last weekend's stalemate has seen Villa slip to eighth place in the table, but a clash with a side who also harbour European ambitions certainly adds spice to the fixture.
O'Neill has fitness concerns surrounding just one player with Stiliyan Petrov struggling with a hamstring problem. The Bulgaria international has missed the last two games and is rated little better than 50-50.
Elsewhere, on-loan defender Curtis Davies has been passed fit after missing the trip to Sunderland with a broken nose picked up in training.
Sven-Goran Eriksson has been busy rallying his players for the trip to Villa Park after they were knocked out of the Carling Cup on Tuesday.
The Citizens were denied a place in the semi-finals after losing 2-0 to ten-man Spurs at the City of Manchester Stadium.
Eriksson's side also lost their 100 per cent home record in the process and afterwards the former England coach admitted the display had been a disappointment.
"We're all disappointed. This match was a great opportunity to get to the semi-final," he said. "It's up to all of us now to pick ourselves up and get together for Aston Villa on Saturday. We can't keep crying about tonight."
Eriksson named a strong side in midweek and his selection is unlikely to alter much at the weekend.
Brazil international Elano made his comeback from a recent hamstring problem and will continue at the heart of the midfield, but elsewhere the likes of Emile Mpenza and Geovanni are pushing for starting opportunities.
But despite Tuesday's disappointment, Eriksson is aware that City's league form is worthy of a place among the leading pack.
The fourth-placed Citizens were 4-2 winners over Bolton Wanderers last weekend and have lost just one of their last six matches.

Match Report
Manchester City maintained their impressive record against Aston Villa with their sixth draw in their last 12 games at Villa Park.
But they were fortunate not to suffer only their second defeat in those 12 visits as they were saved by the woodwork when big John Carew smashed a blockbuster of a shot against the post.
City, winners of their last nine home games, were given a great start with Rolando Bianchi scoring after only 11 minutes and appeared to be on course for a long overdue away success.
But they were forced to share the spoils when Carew notched his first-half equaliser in a very open game which gave Villa hope of regaining their winning form.
In the end a draw, the first at Villa Park this season, was a fitting result although Aston Villa were disappointed that they had been unable to carve out their first win in four matches.
It is, however, Manchester City's away form which continues to frustrate everyone. After winning at West Ham on the opening day of the season they have failed to pick up maximum points from any of their subsequent away games.
There was certainly plenty of optimism when Bianchi notched his fifth goal of the season in only the eleventh minute.
It was the fourth successive home game in which Villa found themselves in this position and for a spell it appeared as if City would take the Midlands club to the cleaners.
There was a lot of space on City's left which was exploited by Martin Petrov and Elano. It was therefore hardly a surprise when City prised open Villa's defence with a swiftly executed move.
Elano found Petrov on the left and his low cross was turned into the net from close range by Bianchi when the Italian watched his shot slip under the body of Scott Carson.
To their credit Villa bounced back in commendable style with Ashley Young, operating on the right, tormented the City defence with his silky skill.
But it was the direct play which paid off for Villa with Carew, in particular, showing the kind of determination on the ball which has surprisingly been lacking for a long time.
The result was a fine solo goal for Villa's equaliser. Although Richard Dunne was in attendance along with three other City defenders, the Villa striker bore down to score his fourth goal of the season with a low angled shot.
Carew certainly enjoyed the freedom accorded him by City's slack defence and brought the crowd to its feet with another shot on the run which hammered against the post.
Only a goal-line clearance by Elano prevented Gabby Agbonlahor getting on the scoresheet in the first half but this proved to be the last real goal opportunity.
The second half fell below the standard of the first period with neither goalkeeper put under any real pressure.

This game now appears to be heading for a draw which is a result I am sure Sven-Goran Eriksson would take.
