Hewitt hoping for Silkmen start Elliot Hewitt could return to the Macclesfield starting line-up for the visit of Port Vale. Highly-rated 17-year-old full back Hewitt was an unused substitute for the goalless draw against Rotherham and will press for inclusion once again. Midfielder Lewis Chalmers was expected to return ahead of the Boxing Day stalemate, but a setback in his recovery from a stomach injury keeps him on the sidelines. Vinny Mukendi was another injury absentee against the Millers and the striker has failed to recover in time from a knee complaint. Ben Tomlinson (ankle) and Scott Kay (thigh) have returned to light training, but the game comes too soon for them. Adam Roberts and Greg Daniels are still absent as a result of respective foot and knee injuries. Port Vale manager Micky Adams has options should he wish to make changes. The likes of Ben Williamson, Clayton McDonald, Sean Rigg and Marc Richards are available for recalls. Adams was able to welcome back Gareth Owen against Hereford on Boxing Day. The defender made his first appearance since early November after recovering from Achilles and groin problems. Owen replaced Liam Chilvers at centre-half after his loan spell from Notts County expired after the 4-0 defeat of Aldershot. Gary Roberts, a substitute at Edgar Street four days ago, is unlikely to be involved. The midfielder's future at Vale could be in doubt after the club confirmed on Thursday that they are investigating a `serious breach of club discipline.' Midfielders Lewis Haldane (broken leg) and Ryan Burge (knee) and on-loan striker Andrew Little (knee) continue their rehabilitation from long-term injuries.
