Problems for Simpson Macclesfield boss Gary Simpson again looks set to be without a number of players when his side play host to Northampton. Paul Morgan faces another two months out after having a plate inserted to help mend his broken arm removed, while Jack Cudworth is also a long way from returning following ankle surgery. Waide Fairhurst has been nursing an ankle injury but has returned to training and could be fit to play some part at Sixfields. Tom Fisher is making good progress following his knee ligament injury but is still a couple of weeks from fitness. Macclesfield held leaders Morecambe to a 1-1 draw in midweek and Simpson said: "I've got a very good squad here and we more than matched the league leaders." Northampton boss Gary Johnson has a mounting injury list to contend with. Seth Nana Ofori-Twumasi (knee), Byron Webster (foot), Andy Holt (collarbone) and Bas Savage (foot) are ruled out, while a late decision will be made on the fitness of Arron Davies (hamstring). Nick McKoy added to the Cobblers` problems when he was sent off during the 3-0 victory at AFC Wimbledon in midweek. The midfielder had just served a one-match suspension after receiving a red card against Southend and will now begin a four-match ban following his second dismissal in as many matches. Striker Marlon Jackson made his full debut against AFC Wimbledon after arriving on loan from Bristol City and looks set to keep his place in the XI.

Hero Tomlinson strikes again The Macclesfield faithful have found a new hero in goal-scoring sensation Ben Tomlinson who grabbed two more goals to earn the home side three vital points. Signed from Worksop in the closed season, the 21-year-old livewire has now grabbed five from six starts and was cheered from the pitch. His opener came in the 36th minute when he pounced on a fluffed clearance from Cobblers' keeper Sam Walker before dancing to the edge of the box and blasting a low drive inside the near post. However Macclesfield were caught on the break moments before half-time when Lewis Young, watched by his brother Ashley, picked out Marlon Jackson, who scored from 10 yards. Macclesfield dominated the second half with George Donnelly seeing a rasping drive blocked by Kevin Langmeade before Walker tipped wide a curling shot from Tomlinson. Tomlinson grabbed the vital second goal in the 83rd minute when he powered home a hip-high volley from the edge of the box. Tomlinson then turned provider, releasing sub Colin Daniel, who converted with his first touch of the game in the 87th minute.
