Match Preview

New faces in Silkmen ranks Macclesfield boss Gary Simpson could hand debuts to several new signings when his side open their campaign at Dagenham. Scott Kay, Jonny Bateson, Ben Tomlinson, Arnaud Mendy, Tom Fisher and Waide Fairhurst have all arrived at Moss Rose during the summer. Fisher is the only new recruit not likely to feature as he is sidelined with a knee ligament strain, while Paul Morgan has not yet recovered from the broken arm he sustained last season. Colin Daniel is facing a hernia operation and will be out for at least four weeks while Emile Sinclair is a doubt with a hamstring strain. Simpson said: "Colin could probably play at the weekend. But it's one of those injuries we feel best to sort out now rather than risk it getting much worse." Dagenham & Redbridge manager John Still is already dealing with a lengthy injury list as his side prepare for their first game of the season. Billy Bingham (knee) faces up to five weeks on the sidelines, Rob Edmans remains out with his fractured leg from last season and is still over a month away while Peter Gain (hernia) has resumed light training but remains over two weeks from his return. Kevin Maher will stay in the treatment room for over a month with his fractured metatarsal and Damian Scannell has missed the latter stages of pre-season with a groin injury. But despite being without the quintet, Still has added a total of nine new faces to his ranks this summer - and remains keen to add a loan midfielder before Saturday - meaning he will be well prepared for the clash at Moss Rose. Striker Josh Scott is also back to full fitness having missed the second half of last season with a blood clot on his lung. Still is yet to reveal who will start in goal between Chris Lewington and Arsenal loanee James Shea with Tony Roberts having retired.

Match Report

Elito downs Macc Medy Elito netted a debut winner as 10-man Dagenham made a triumphant return to League Two with a 1-0 victory over Macclesfield. Daggers, relegated last season after just one year in League One, broke the deadlock on the hour when midfielder Elito - a free transfer summer signing from Colchester - slotted home from close range. The game sparked into life and defender Scott Doe came close to doubling Daggers` lead moments later when his header from Mark Arber`s delivery went just wide. Doe was even nearer to putting the visitors in control when he forced Jose Veiga into a fine save to keep out his six-yard header. Then only a fantastic finger-tip save from Daggers goalkeeper Chris Lewington from point-blank range prevented Emile Sinclair from hauling the Silkmen level in the 67th minute. Lewington came to his side`s rescue again with 13 minutes left as he turned away Ben Tomlinson`s 12-yard strike and two minutes later Lewington saw red for deliberate handball but despite finishing the game strongly, Macclesfield could not force an equaliser.
