Match Preview

Chalmers blow for Silkmen Lewis Chalmers is out of Macclesfield's game at home to Accrington. The midfielder suffered a groin injury in training this week, and could face a prolonged spell on the sidelines. Midfielder Scott Kay will also miss the match as he continues to recover from a thigh problem and Adam Roberts is doubtful with a sore ankle. Paul Morgan and Waide Fairhurst came through a midweek reserve game unscathed and may feature for the Silkmen. Tony Diagne is back in training following his hamstring injury and could well return after missing last week`s FA Cup win at East Thurrock. Striker Vinny Mukendi is out again as he serves the second game of a three-match ban after his red card at Burton, as is Ben Tomlinson, who has a fractured foot. Colin Daniel should play despite a hamstring scare in the week. Accrington captain Andy Procter is available for the trip after his one-match suspension was overturned. Procter was sent off in the heavy FA Cup defeat to Notts County last week but Stanley have successfully appealed the ban meaning the midfielder is now able to feature at Moss Rose. On-loan defender Kevin Long is back in contention after being ineligible for last week`s cup match, and Will Hatfield will also be available after Stanley extended the 20-year-old`s loan spell from Leeds. Goalkeeper Ian Dunbavin returned to training this week and is almost certain to return after suffering from a cut knee. Kurtis Guthrie (back) and Alan Burton (hip) are both injured and boss John Coleman will also be without Peter Murphy who serves the second game of a three-match ban following his dismissal against Bristol Rovers. Midfielder Ian Craney is a long-term absentee with a broken leg.

Match Report

Stockley strike shares spoils for Stanley Accrington held their nerve to earn a late 1-1 draw after being outplayed by bright Macclesfield. Jayden Stockley stepped off the bench to cancel out Shaun Brisley`s first-half opener with a well-taken 78th-minute strike, although the draw still leaves Stanley without an away win in nine months. Tony Diagne looped a header over the crossbar for Macc as early as the second minute, with Charlie Barnett skidding a low drive past the far post for Accrington soon after. The hosts took the lead in the 20th minute when Brisley moved aggressively on to a Sam Wedgbury corner to head into the roof of the net from six yards. Stanley came close shortly after the half-hour mark when goalkeeper Jose Veiga spilled a fierce drive from Sean Hessey only for Craig Lindfield to hammer the rebound into the side-netting. Colin Daniel showed his marker a clean pair of heels in the 57th minute but George Donnelly was inches away from converting his cross. Bryan Hughes then tested Veiga at the other end with a 30-yard drive which the Macc keeper clawed wide. And it was left for Stockley, who had only been on the pitch 11 minutes, to equalise having shown neat control with his back to goal before turning and firing home from eight yards.
