Match Report

Macclesfield Town stretched the number of visits to Meadow Lane in which they have remained unbeaten to seven and are still Notts County's number one bogey team.

Macclesfield will feel satisfied with a point but on the balance of play Notts County should have won it in commanding style.

The first half produced far fewer highlights than the second with the best finishing effort coming from defender Jamie Clapham which whistled across the face of the goal.

The worst miss was committed eight yards out by Delroy Facey who spooned the ball into the crowd.

Then on 48 minutes, it was Facey who opened his scoring account for Notts County with a well-taken goal.

Taking a pass from Richard Butcher, he took two strides before smashing the ball into the far corner to his own obvious relief.

Once again, however, Notts County were unable to hold onto a lead.

On 65 minutes, Macclesfield somewhat fortunately drew level when a piledriver by Gareth Evans came back off Russell Hoult into the path of Simon Yeo who drove it home.

The game's real flash-point came one minute later when Evans appeared to go in late in a challenge for the ball with Notts County defender Adam Tann who collapsed in a heap.

During an extended hold-up - after which Tann was stretchered off - referee Richard Beeby red-carded Evans.

After that it was largely one-way traffic towards a Macclesfield goal which earlier had a charmed life when defender Izak Reid twice cleared off his own line.

The nearest to a decider was also contributed by Clapham, whose effort this time cannoned back off the woodwork.

Maccelsfield manager Keith Alexander unwisely got involved in some verbal exchanges with Notts County supporters and extra stewards were positioned to calm things down.
