Cissokho flights in a cross which is deflected and leaves Reina baffled after he came to collect. The danger runs clear but Lyon win a corner

Kallstrom opts to shoot from the best part of 30 yards. The effort never troubles Reina as it flies over the bar

Gomis is on his own with four white shirts around him. Voronin needlessly lashes out to give the home side a free-kick in a promising position

A ball over the top interests Gomis but Reina is wary of the threat and rushes out to head the ball clear

Cissokho advances down the left and delivers a cross which is met by the advancing Bastos. His header loops over the bar

Makoun carries the ball forward and makes plenty of ground. He tries to release Gomis in behind, but the striker is not on the same wavelength

Insua clears towards Torres who is almost sliced in two by Makoun, who is probably due a booking after a flurry of poor challenges

Kuyt and Lucas attempt to breach Lyon's defence directly but their combination of passes end once they reach the 18-yard area

Benayoun and Insua combine well again but the latter's cross is cleared

Liverpool find space on the left yet again with Benayoun but the Israel international's cross is very poor

Bastos collects a long ball brilliantly and makes his way forward. He is forced to shoot due to the presence of Insua and Agger

Pjanic is down injured this time. Liverpool's injury problems have been well documented, but Lyon look a patched up outfit themselves

Voronin races clear as Lyon freeze expecting an offside flag. The Ukranian is one-on-one with the goalkeeper but strikes it directly at Lloris and the chance of the match goes begging
