Match Preview

Loan quartet involved for Imps New loan signings Ashley Grimes, Luke Howell, Gavin Hoyte and Josh Gowling are eligible for Lincoln against Nuneaton in the FA Cup first round. Millwall initially refused permission for Grimes to play in the competition, but the striker could now feature if he recovers from a bout of illness. "Ashley was sick before the Northampton game on Tuesday night and sick again after it. He still hasn`t really eaten anything so we will have to see how he is," said City boss Steve Tilson, who has vowed not to tinker with his team too much against the non-leaguers. He added: "I`m not one for making five or six changes, it will be our strongest side out there. I might change one or two things but it won`t be wholesale." Defender Paul Green remains around two weeks away from a return as he continues to recover from a thigh injury. Nuneaton will be without key midfielder Kyle Storer for the trip. Storer, who has recently claimed October`s Blue Square North player of the month award, will serve a one-match suspension having collected his fifth booking of the season. His absence will prove a big loss at Sincil Bank for manager Kevin Wilkin, who watched the Imps slip into the League Two relegation zone on Tuesday with a 2-0 home defeat to Northampton. Fringe players Matty Collins (knee), Tom Bates (suspected hernia) and Ed Matthews (hernia) will also miss out as Nuneaton look to cause an FA Cup upset to remember. The non-league outfit are currently fifth in the Blue Square North and gunning for their third successive promotion.

Match Report

Jarrett sinks Nuneaton Albert Jarrett broke non-league Nuneaton's hearts with an 89th-minute free-kick to secure a 1-0 win for Lincoln. The League Two strugglers looked to be heading for a replay against their Blue Square North opponents after playing the whole of the second half with 10 men following Clark Keltie's dismissal. Nuneaton created a string of first-half chances with Eddie Nisevic shooting inches wide after just 30 seconds. Midfielder Justin Marsden also went close after cutting through the heart of the Lincoln defence and full-back James Armson poked the ball wide after a 30-yard run. The visitors continued to push forward after Keltie saw red for a foul on James Armson, with Gareth Dean shooting into the side-netting during first-half injury time. Despite being a man down, Lincoln looked the stronger in the closing 20 minutes with Jarrett seeing a 25-yard shot come back off the post before he finally beat Nuneaton keeper Danny Alcock with a left-foot free-kick. Lincoln keeper Joe Anyon still had to make a fine save to deny Nuneaton substitute Donovan Simmonds.
