Leyton Orient moved back to the top of League One when Adam Boyd hammered in his fifth goal of the season in the 57th minute to seal a 1-0 win at Yeovil Town.

Boyd was freed by Luton Town in the summer after a miserable time and Martin Ling, the O's manager, obviously did good business when he snapped him up.

Boyd was set up on the left by JJ Melligan and his powerful right-foot drive evaded goalkeeper Steve Mildenhall at his near post.

Mildenhall appeared to take a knock in attempting to make the save and two minutes later collapsed with no-one near him. He was stretchered off and Yeovil boss Russell Slade, with no goalkeeper on the bench, sent on his skipper Terry Skiverton, normally a centre-half, who had been named as substitute as he recovered from injury.

Yeovil are still awaiting a report on Mildenhall's injury, but such was their dominance for the final 30 minutes that Skiverton did not have a shot to save, although he knew little about an injury-time effort from Wayne Corden that grazed the outside of a post.

Yeovil boss Russell Slade, with a lengthy injury list, gave debuts to two teenagers from the bench and both Jerahl Hughes and Wilfried Domoraud showed signs of good things ahead.

Slade said: "They gave it a go and overall we played some bright football, especially at the start of the second half.

"We came up against a good defence and Boyd showed his ability by getting their goal, although I thought our keeper might have made a better attempt at saving it.'"

His opposite number, Ling, added: "It was a workmanlike win, but I didn't think Yeovil asked as many questions of our defence as I would have expected."
